*Y.C.* Improving maternal health through awards with information and entrepreneurship skills

Ubicación

main IGA
Uganda

The Sevens community
This is a forum of women in each village who can be met with entrepreneurship skills to enhance maternal health, they are given basic facts about the subject and expected to give a feedback within one month of activity implementation in their communities, and each trained individual goes back and trains other seven members in the community of which these are promoted to different stages with different awards and recognitions
The more people reached the more benefit financially and they are assessed through their formation of clubs and visible small-scale income generating projects.
Maternal health as a concept of public health affects people of all ages, lack of information and inadequacies in financial matters limits access to better maternal health services and practices. In most of the developing countries of the world, many mothers lack the basic information, skills and facts about maternal health, in most cases women in child bearing age even lack information on the recent maternal services offered at health centres and clinics. Some just neglect the whole idea of seeking medical advice while a bigger percentage of mothers cannot access better maternal health services in their area due to distances to the nearest points for information and advice. In addition, most mothers in developing countries suffer from inadequate maternal health supplies in terms of information on nutrition, clothing and mama bag kits, most of them cannot access adequate finances to sustain their basic needs in their long periods of preconception, antenatal and post natal services.
Equipping mothers with entrepreneurship skills, a basis on which mothers can earn a simple coin to sustain the acquisition of basic needs; for nutritional, pregnancy preparatory services and recreational needs. This creates a safer environment to ensure the health of mothers. The information will be designed in a way that carries basic facts about maternal health
The entrepreneurship skills will be passed on to the mothers through home visits and family talk by the Sevens Community members
