Cynthia Berning is a graduate student in International Development Studies with a concentration in International Migration. She is currently working for the Millenium Challenge Corporation's Economic Analysis Division, and until recently worked for the International Rescue Committee, where she was instrumental in the creation and organization of a global grassroots network of advocates for the DR Congo. She plans to pursue a career in humanitarian assistance to refugee and displaced populations. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cynthia graduated from Rice University in 2005. She has spent several years overseas, studying in Senegal and teaching English at a rural high school in Hunan, China. She has also traveled extensively through Europe and Asia and loves studying and speaking foreign languages. She speaks French fluently and has studied Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Mandarin, Arabic and Wolof.
