There are so many possibilities in this world for change-- and most of it should happen! Since I know that I cannot signle-handedly solve all of the worlds problems, I choose to work with one near and dear to my heart: environmentalism! We are in the midst of a time where "green is the new black" and "paper or plastic, neither!" are becoming more popular phrases, and I feel it is my job to help keep the movement going! If we all can alter our lives a little bit we can make this planet extremely green! Yes, we are the future, but we are also right now-- so let's get a jumpstart on our work!
Hello everyone, I am Jessie Mehrhoff, a junior at E. O. Smith High School in Connecticut. I have been working closely with the environment for several years now. I got my start at the UNEP Tunza International Children's Conferences on the Environment, the first being when I was 12. At age 13 I was elected the Junior Board North American Representative to the 2006 Conference in Malaysia-- and I got to do a lot of work behind the scenes, as well as help run an awesome conference! Being so involved with the conference, I realized how many young people were making such huge differences in this world, leading me to found Green Teens. Green Teens became an official club my Freshman year at high school! I have been the Lead Venturer of the club, working with my friends to get it through rough points and great successes! I am also the 2010 Class Secratary as well as a member of my Student Congress! I enjoy leadership roles and public speaking, making working for the environment an extremely fun and rewarding Challenge!
