I am a changemaker because I am passionate about the health of the people in our communities and nation. I make change by organizing people to help themselves get the food they need to be healthy by organizing community gardens, school gardens, food education and anything related to "real food".
I feel a connection to all living things and when a part of the whole is not healthy than there is a weak link that makes the whole unhealthy. I am especially concerned with people having access to fresh and real food so we can have healthy children who grow up free of diseases and vibrant communities living in healthy environments.
I passionately want to see food security in Appalachian Ohio. It is my vision that everyone have access to healthy real food and that all people live closer to the Earth. I see this vision unfolding daily and it is what drives me to work tirelessly for our local communities.
I have been the Executive Director of Community Food Initiatives in Athens, Ohio for 6 years and have been instrumental in the development and expansion of our local food system for 10 years. I am a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, farmer and real food activist with skills in organizing people, creating movements and farming.
