As a scientist, I am always in 'discovery mode,' learning everything I can about topics I find interesting or important. But I am ultimately unsatisfied in merely knowing things unless I can tell everyone else in the world about them, and help them to understand things as I understand them. For those with minds open to change, I like to help make it happen.

I want science to be cool like it never was before. I want people who are interested in science-related issues to be unsatisfied with a cursory grasp of the material, and want to learn enough to make a positive contribution to those issues. I want people to know how dependent they are on our expanding knowledge, and how important it is to get involved in the process and make the world a better place.
I am a plant breeding and plant genetics graduate student at UW-Madison, originally from California. In addition to my work on the genetics of sweet corn, I make videos to educate people about plant breeding, and am pursuing a minor in Life Sciences Communication.
