Early Entry Awards

  • One of two Early Entry Awards: $500 (each)
    Awarded to the top entries submitted by 5pm EST on December 7, 2011.
    (Open to entries from across Canada and internationally)

 

National and International Community Awards:

  • Community Awards: 3 awards of $5,000 (each)
    Awarded to entries with the most votes from the online community.
    Entries from outside of Canada will be eligible for one of the three awards.

     
  • Donner Canadian Foundation Community Awards: 2 awards of $2,500 (each)
    Awarded to top entries from across Canada.

 

Regional Awards within Canada:

  • Donner Canadian Foundation Award for Innovations from Alberta: 1 award of $2,500
    Awarded to the top entry from Alberta.
     
  • The First Nations Education Council and the Regroupement des centres d’amitié autochtones du Québec Award: 2 awards of $500 (each)
    Awarded to the top entries from Quebec related to education and employment.
     
  • The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation Award: 1 award of $2,500
    Awarded to the top project or idea from Quebec.
     
  • The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation Award: 1 award of $2,500
    Awarded to the top project or idea from Manitoba or Saskatchewan.
     
  • Margaret and Wallace McCain Family Foundation Award from the Maritimes: 1 award of $5,000
    Awarded to the top early childhood education entry from the Maritimes (Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick).
     
  • The North-South-Partnership for Children Award: 1 award of $1,000
    Awarded to an idea or project pertaining to the Far North in Ontario.
     
  • RBC Awards for the Far North: 3 awards of $5,000 (each)
    Awarded to top entries from or pertaining to the Far North in Canada (north of 60°Latitude).
     
  • Vancouver Foundation Awards: 2 awards of $5,000 (each)
    Awarded to the top entries from British Columbia.

 

Awards for Specific Areas of Learning:

  • The Counselling Foundation of Canada & Canadian Education & Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC) Awards: 3 awards of $1,000 (each)
    Awarded to the top entries pertaining to career education and workplace learning in Canada.
     
  • The Girls Action Foundation Awards: 3 awards of $1,000 (each)
    Awarded to the top entry addressing Aboriginal education submitted by a First Nations, Métis or Inuit young woman (under 30 years of age) from across Canada.
     
  • The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation Award: 1 award of $5,000
    Awarded to the top entry for post-secondary education from across Canada.
     
  • The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation Award: 2 awards of $2,500 (each)
    One award to the top entry for student retention from across Canada.
    One award to the top entry for sport and healthy living from across Canada.

     
  • Margaret and Wallace McCain Family Foundation and Lawson Foundation Awards: 2 awards of $5,000 (each)
    Awarded to the top early childhood education entries from across Canada.
     
  • Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative Awards: 5 awards of $1,000 (each)
    Awarded to top entries pertaining to elementary and secondary classroom education in Canada.
     

The chances of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. Early entry award winners will be announced on December 21, 2012. All other award winners will be announced on March 26, 2012.
