Mohawk Kids
Mohawk Kids was born from the desire of numerous families on Six Nations of the Grand River working to revive our Mohawk language back into a living language in our families. Six Nations is in particular dire needs in terms of our Mohawk language as there are less than 5 first language speakers left. However, there is a growing resurgence amongst families on Six Nations to raise our next generation to use our Mohawk language as their first language. Mohawk Kids will provide much needed language support to these families.

Mohawk Kids will support and encourage young and old to use our Mohawk language in their homes and in our community. It will ignite the revitalization of Mohawk as a living language on Six Nations.
Your Future Goal(s): Tell us what you hope to achieve with your idea or project in the next year
We anticipate seeing and hearing our Mohawk language used by all ages in our community again.
In 5 years, what will be different as a result of your idea/project?
Six Nations have more speakers of the Mohawk language. Our children will be growing up fluent speakers of our language. We will see our language on signs, hear it on the playground and at work.

We are working with established community groups on Six Nations. Onkwawenna Kentyohkwa is a strong supporter of in-kind contributions.

We have donated space, computers, equipment and volunteers from numerous individuals and community groups ready to help us get Mohawk Kids rolling.
