Dear Adhiambo, your project sounds really interesting. Do tell me, what is the incidence of deafness in your community and how many people are we talking about? Also it would be interesting to see how far the community has embraced your good work
in the community where i come from, most deaf cases are caused by illness that is prolonged measles attack.
- Another cause of deafness is ear infection which causes the ear drum to burst or become perforated that contribute to hearing loss.
- we are targeting around 100 deaf youths in upper primary school for the first year then admit more numbers, the hearing youths are 50 for the first year, this is due to limited facilities to accommodate more.
- the community as been happy because no group has ever come up with such an idea because the fear of language barrier and more people are now interested in what we are doing even the local administration.
more of such efforts targeting disadvantaged youth should be embraced by the whole society only then shall we be able to say disability is not inability for we will have capacity build our young people who have such shortcomings and not by their choice.
