Exciting entry! Congratulations on all your success so far! How many students are involved in My Own Book? I saw that you mentioned you are interested in making t-shirts to spread the word about your program. This made me think of an environmentally conscious tip I recently heard from the organization "Otesha:" They suggest that when making t-shirts for your organization a cheap and environementally friendly way to do this is to purchase used t-shirts from a thrift store, wash them, turn them inside out and have them printed on the other side! This could save you a lot of money and would be helping the recycling and environment cause too! Check out http://www.otesha.ca if you want to learn more of these tips.
Thank you for reading our entry. We have about 75 teens involved in My Own Book. It is a great way for them to truly take part as leaders with service learning. We've all benefited by speaking in front of a crowd of children, quieting the crowd, getting the children engaged in the story. It has been great.
We will check into the t-shirt idea. Thanks!
In other news we just returned from the ServiceNation Summit in NYC- it was great to have a chance to see McCain and Obama, and be a part of this dynamic conference with so many interesting people.
