Hello Ronald,
I sincerely believe you are really doing a great job involving your secondary school students to help the community. At the same time you are inculcating the collaboration culture and empathy in these adolescents by engaging them in such constructive and noble work.
I'd, however, like to know at what time of the day are they engaged in these activities? Is it during or after their school hours? How frequent are their visists to these primary schools?

Dear Sita,

The students go out on wednesday and the others on friday;5:00p.m-6:30p.m after school hours.

Each student in senior one visits the primary school onc a week.

Dear Ronald,

I think the idea of empowering secondary school students to take over a mentorship for primary school pupils helps both sides. The senior students learn to be responsible for their community and develop a sense of taking care of each other. The primary kids are motivated by peer education, because the older ones are able to impress the younger pupils by giving their knowledge gained so far at school to them . Maybe the primary pupils will get the knack of learning ( and the teachers the knack of better teaching ) and be keen on doing more. All in all it is a really fantastic project.

Cheers, Elke

Hullo Elke,

Thanks for the contribution and encouragement. You cannot believe that this project has ended up in training primary school teachers in ICT skills,in staff development within curriculum areas and our foods and nutrition students are teaching the teachers and parents in the primary school to bake cakes and bread for business.
