Linekela - Thanks for your entry. Have you heard about Frontline SMS, a free software application that lets you use a computer to communicate back and forth with multiple cell phones? You could use this software to test your idea and track the results. Then you could use the data to support your idea when approaching potential funders.
Yes, you should try it and let us know if it works for you. We met with Ken Banks, the founder of Frontline SMS, and he would be excited to hear about how you use it.
You might also consider getting in touch with Gustav Praekelt, of Praekelt Consulting: www.praekelt.co.za. He is based in SA and knows a lot about mobile technology in Southern Africa and Africa as a whole. His company also has a Foundation arm that might be interested in your initiative.
Linekela, though your idea has attracted a lot of interest, how do you ensure that these students are exchanging the right messages? Do you take part actively or check the content these messages? If you do, then you are on the right track.
Yes the content of the messages will be monitered and regulated as well as each student registering for any study subjects will be approved after confirmation of her/his school. This way we know whose number sent which message and unapproved numbers will not be able to be part of any study group, thus eliminating hackers. Each subject does have a tutor everytime a message is sent between students it goes to him/her as well.

Let me thank you for reviewing my idea.
This is a great idea to use mobile phones, which are one of the more accessible tools available on the African continent.
