It's wonderful to see this effort to streamline sexual and reproductive health into the curriculum. It is also quite positive that the government is supporting this iniative. I am curious to know more about plans for content of the curriculum (what specific topics or modules would be covered and how), and how you think the take-up of this will be among professors and students. Also, do you have plans of following-up with students to evaluate how they are using the information in practice to positively impact the health of women? I'm looking forward to hearing more about this.

Dear Ms Sewall,

I’d like to thank you for your interest in our project! We have some ideas about the content of this course but we hope for professional experts’ assistance. It was the reason why I participate in this competition. We suggest to include following modules in course syllabus. Firstly, we would like to pay attention to SRHR international and national aspects. Communication skills and confidentiality maintenance will be our first module because the majority of Ukrainian healthcare providers are not trained in these issues. We would like to dedicate the second module to the questions of sexuality and sexual violence. This issue is not included in Medical School curriculum at all and there is need to provide knowledge and skills in this area. Next module in our course will be STI/HIV counseling skills development. Our main audience is ob/gyn residents so this knowledge and skills will be very useful in their everyday practice. Another one module that we intend to include is Adolescents SRHR because this age group demands special skills for counseling providing. I’d like to emphasize that to develop proposed course we need advice and support from international institutions.

To evaluate efficiency of SRHR course we’ll develop pre- and post-training questionnaires. In one year we’re going to call all participants to 1-2 day workshop to share their experience for SRHR providing knowledge by questionnaire and by objective structured clinical examples (will be developed). Again we need assistance in tools development skills.
Yours sincerely,
Anna Yermachenko
