Through the Family Child Care Tool Kit Licensing Project, All Our Kin trains, supports, and sustains community childcare providers to ensure that children and families have the foundations they need to succeed in school and in life. The function of the Tool Kit Licensing Project is to assist unlicensed family childcare providers obtain their Child Development Credential. All Our Kin provides materials and mentorship to help unlicensed family, friend and neighbor caregivers meet health and safety standards, fulfill state licensing requirements.
Reason:
I am nominating All Our Kin because I believe that the Family Child Care Tool Kit Licensing Project presents an innovative solution to an increasingly pressing social problem. Namely, how to effectively sustain and support young children and their families in underserved communities. By supporting family childcare providers, All Our Kin helps build a sustainable, high-quality childcare network, which in turn produces positive outcomes for Connecticut’s most underserved children and families. This community focused approach to a problem traditionally viewed as private and individual exemplifies the mission of the Power of Small. The program provides a system changing solution to a problem that plagues underserved communities.
