Chitungwiza Community Development Network is a youth servicing community based organisation that was formed and registered in september 2010.The organisation seeks to establish networks and partnerships among the entrepreneurs, decision makers, business and development partners so that the efforts of young women and men of Chitungwiza can be meaningfully harvested to improve their livelihoods

Chitungwiza is a town of nearly 800 000 inhabitants and the majority of these people are into the informal economy in a country where unemployment level is more 80%. They ply various trades that include carpentry, welding, dress making, hair dressing, mechanics, brick making, construction, transport, catering among others. These entrepreneurs operate by the roadside, under trees, open spaces, backyard workshops and they have a problem of accessing the organised market and are lowly paid by retailers when they market their products despite that they are of high quality. Most of these businesses don't advertise and are not known by the majority of people. There is need to improve revenue generation among entrepreneurs if efforts to eradicate poverty are to succeed among poor communities.

My solution is to promote access to the market by entrepreneurs through e-business and e-advertising to the wider Chitungwiza population and the diaspora of Chitungwiza. This will be done through a website that will document all entrepreneurs, their services and products. The website will contain pictures of the products so that a consumer can really choose his or her product and contact the manufacturer to conclude business. The website will be marketed to the greater Chitungwiza people, the diaspora and all other stakeholders interested in products Chitungwiza through sending bulky SMS and on social networking sites.

Step 1: Documenting all entrepreneurs of Chitungwiza. This entails visiting every street of Chitungwiza documenting the entrepreneurs’, photographing the products and collecting contact details.The target is to document 5 000 micro-enterprises.
Step 2: Create a moving and interactive website for the project.
Step 3: Uploading the information on the website.
Step 4: Advertise the website to the greater Chitungwiza population and this include the entrepreneurs. Bulky SMS will be sent to every entrepreneur in the database and other people who are already in our database.Fliers and posters will also be used to market the website.
Step 5: Create pages for website on social networking sites like facebook to market the project.
When one needs a service he/she just open the website and go under the headline of the products and services he/she is looking for. S/he finds the services and contact the entrepreneur and if satisfied conclude the deal. We will be able to monitor the number of people who visit the site on a daily basis and the heading or pages they would have visited.
For the first year the entrepreneurs will advertise for free but will need to pay for advertising thereafter. The aim is to let them enjoy the service for free, popularize it and then make them make pay. The yearly payments for advertising will bring in reveue to the project and sustain. The amount to be paid by the entrepreneurs will be determined at the end of the first 12 months.

Chitungwiza has a population of nearly 800 000 inhabitants, a large diaspora of nearly 100 000 which economically and materially supports their relatives here and is near Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe with a population of more than 1 million individuals.
My peers in the project are entrepreneurs plying different trades in Chitungwiza.
There are no other people who are doing a similar project. It is an innovation that we want to pilot and if it works it can then be replicated in other parts of the country, region and the global village.

The projected impact over the next 1-3 years is improved standards of living among the people of Chitungwiza through quick delivery of service and products, increased revenue generation among entrepreneurs which will enable them to provide for the needs of their families and hassle free business transactions among the people of Chitungwiza. Increased access to the market will bring increased business thereby leading to employment creation among these income generating projects as they seek to satisfy their customers. . The idea is to increase revenue generation by entrepreneurs through e-business and e-adverising which give them the opportunity to improve their family livelihoods situations.

The idea was concieved in April/May 2012 when the organisation was searching on ways to provide young entrepreneurs with the market for their products. Entrepreneurs are ripped off by retailers who are profiteering at the expense of the entrepreneurial spirit among Zimbabweans. Our idea was also reinforced by Vincent Kahiya the Group Editor of Alpha Media Holdings, a private newspaper publisher based in the Capital of Zimbabwe Harare when he visited our offices.

3. The project will be implemented by Chitungwiza Community Development Network ( CCDN) with the participation of entrepreneurs who will allow the CCDN team to document their products and contact details. The other partners in the project is the greater Chitungwiza community who are going to use the website in satisfying their needs.
