Women are the pillars of the nation, the condition of whom determined the progress or regress of a country. In case of Indonesia, the country is now facing a serious crisis of character and morality. Among the many causing factors is the diminishing role of mothers as the first and main educator.
Though child rearing and caring is part of motherly instinct, more and more mothers are being unaware of this natural talent. Child care and development has emerged as a business that most mothers are readily paying for. By relying too much on preschool and helper service, mothers are building a gap between her and the children. Thus more and more children are detached from motherly love critical to their character development.

We founded Institute for Professional Mother to reintroduce the knowledge of motherhood, while developing alternative skills and creating a network of mothers nationally and regionally. Our CYBER MOTHERS program provides informal education for mothers through online courses and webinar, encouraging mothers to never stop learning, being social, and develop their full potential as women and mothers, without leaving their children and family. Within the program there are four subjects:
Bunda Sayang – about children education
Bunda Cekatan – about household management
Bunda Produktif – about self-confidence, financial independence, and alternative income generation
Bunda Sholeha – about womanhood and continual improvement

Mothers start to learn about online world and knowledge sharing through www.ibuprofesional.com. Then community mobilizing is conducted on city-based. Community leaders are first introduced to 8 online courses. After understanding the technical aspect, the leaders establish forum/group on the website. Since Dec 2011 we have already 8 active groups: IIP Chapter Salatiga, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Karawang, Pekalongan, Tangerang, Singapore, and Malaysia. 90% of the members are home makers, actively participating in weekly online course during weekdays. Through this courses, the mothers share further their knowledge to women in their neighborhood. Every weekend they bring their spouse and family to attend webinar, to synchronize parents’ perception on children education. Thus communication and education pattern within their family improved. These mothers are paving their role as the first and main educator for their children.The hands that rocks the cradle are becoming the hands that shake the world.

Since its inception on 22 Dec 2011, we have 493 active members in www.ibuprofesional.com.
36 online courses have been organized, with 20-30 participants attended each event.
10 webinar have been organized, with 60-75 mothers and family attended.
Center points for Institut Ibu Profesional have been established in 6 cities in Indonesia, and one each for Singapore and Malaysia. Each center has 50-100 members, who are actively organizing meetup for ICT education, family and children education knowledge sharing, and other self-development events.

Once I met a mother who shared how she gave up approaching her child. Her children seem to hate her, so the mother prefer to hand over to the grandparents. She would really like to repair her relationship with her child, but simply doesn’t know how.
So we gathered with other moms who experienced similar problem. We learn together about children development and education, how to nurture relationship in a family. After a couple of sessions, the mother began to practice her new knowledge. She patiently educates her child, also help to teach reading and writing, until finally she received a short text on the phone “Mom, you’re beautiful.”
Words then spread to around 100 mothers, and we organized offline sessions regularly. Then, an idea came to make it online session, while also introducing and familiarizing ICT to the mothers. Unexpectedly, we received positive response nationally and regionally. Thus we organize the online course: improving mothers’ knowledge on ICT and education

Currently we’re building personal relationship with women education activists, also Ashoka Fellow and youth venture, and a number of experts.

We really need affordable internet network to spread Cyber Mothers to mothers everywhere globally. We’re currently reviewing the option of satellite technology, to expand to online radio, TV , magazine, etc.
