1) Internet and the free flow of information through ICT has been notorious in Indonesia due to negative content (among which porn).
2) High level of unemployment, particularly among women

Internet Cerdas Indonesian is campaigning and educating public to use the internet smartly. We have spread the movement to a number of cities in Indonesia, through seminar training, competition, online entrepreneurship mentoring, writing workshop, sharing, distance learning, etc. Thus the negative image of the internet could be reduced by increasing the positive use

We promote ICT through voluntary based regional coordinators. Among our highlighted programs is online entrepreneurship mentoring, which has resulted in women online entrepreneurs.
We also build networking with students and professionals around the world to organize distance learning with schools in Indonesia.

We were concerned upon seeing people with low economic status and low quality of life. We believed in the power of ICT to change this, particularly by opening access to education and economic development. However, the stereotype is that internet is full of negative content, which discourage people to access. We’re trying to change the stereotype by showing how ICT can be used positively, productively, and smartly.

Among our partners are established organizations in Indonesia, such as PMII (pergerakan mahasiswa islam Indonesia - Indonesian Islamic student movement), HIPSI (himpunan pengusaha santri Indonesia – Indonesian Islamic school student entrepreneurs), 1000 teachers network, Islamic education institutions, various foundations, local government, etc.
