Media Make Change is a media justice organization that works to support and empower under-served communities through snew (social + new) media technology, literacy, and advocacy. What will be the impact of your idea?
Media Make Change is an essential service in the digital age because now, more than ever, people are using social and new media platforms and methods for political, social, and civic engagement. MMC wants to ensure that socioeconomic status, ethnic background, dis/ability, or age will not hinder a person's right-to-access and her/his ability to produce knowledge using social and new media tools. Through digital training workshops, project promotion, and annual MMC conferences, under-served and technologically under-accessed communities will have better access to broadband Internet, increased digital literacy, and exposure to professional, academic, and personal enrichment opportunities. With access, literacy, and mentorship, these individuals will be better equipped to serve the communities around them and beyond.

Media Make Change involves an amazing network of individuals committed to helping develop its mission. The MMC team, comprised of the President, Executive Director, and Board members, are activists, community leaders, professionals, and tech experts. In addition to this incredible network of individuals, I have years of academic and professional experience in snew media. Inspired by the work I've done, the knowledge I've acquired, and the people I've met along the way, I have been able to craft a powerful vision that I intend to see through. I am more than confident in my abilities as a social activist, community organizer, and changemaker that Media Make Change will be the most successful snew media organization of this digital age generation.
How much will it cost to launch your idea? (This can be an estimate)
Taking into account filing fees for 501 (c)(3) status, costs of managing the website, minimal tech equipment for digital training workshops, organizing the MMC annual conference, and initial staff salaries/stipends, we expect that $25,000 will be a sufficient amount of money to begin operations.
