What impact have you had?
NOT HAVING A WELL COORDINATED SYSTEM TO ASK A HELP AND BEING HELPED ON TIME CONTRIBUTE TO THE THREE DELAY IN MATERNAL HEALTH AND SO INCREASE THE MATERNAL DEATH.
Problem
WOMEN S ARE DYING OR HAVING THE DISABILITY BECAUSE OF THEY DO NOT HAVE A WELL COORDINATED AND POLICIES IN BEING HELPED DURING THE MATERNAL HEALTH PROBLEMS.
COMMUNITY IS NOT WELL INFORMED ABOUT THE PREGNANCY RISK AND IT'S COMPLICATIONS.
THE GOVERNMENT OF RWANDA AND PARTNERS DIDN'T PUT MUCH EFFORT IN MATERNAL HEALTH AND THE PARTNERSHIP IS NOT VERY STRING ABOUT THAT ISSUE
Actions
With NTABARA VUBA, the action will be at three level (COMMUNITY, GOVERNMENT AND PARTNERS AND THE HEALTH FACILITY:
At community level (1st delay)
- Sensitization to all women and men the risk related to the pregnancy and the importance to use health service.
- Sensitization that the traditional birth attendance is not appropriate or safe
- Increasing the number of CHWs from to binomes (2 CHWs by village) in a village or umudugudu to 6 CHWs and in this case on CNW may have only about 20 households to help (a village in Rwanda is supposed to gave between 100-150 households)
- Training of CHWs in maternal health especially
Government of Rwanda and partners (the second delay)
- To strengthen the health policies by putting
o Transport (ambulances in all health centers or hospital)
o Medicines and all consumables needed in EmOC
o Qualified and enough personnel in all health facilities
- make transport free for the pregnant women
- To make accessible by renovating the roads where it’s possible
- help people to be in agglomerations (grouped in villages)
At the health facility (This will help to the third delay )
- To do or to act cording to the norms and standar
Results
with the program we will have
- number of women used the services
- number of women were transported
- number of CHW were trained
- proportion of maternal death before and after (interval of one year)
- number of ambulances are available by health facility
- number of qualified personnel recruited in a health facilities
- number of activities and report of monitoring and evaluation
What will it take for your project to be successful over the next three years? Please address each year separately, if possible.
For the population of 200 000 (estimation)in Rwanagana zone (District hospital) with 12 health centers we must have a cost of around 1 000 000 USD.
That money will help the project to be successful and will be used in:
- training
- buying ambulances in 12 health centers
- maintenance of equipments
- monitoring and evaluation
- making available medicines and other consumables
- Etc

The Story
What was the defining moment that you led to this innovation?
the f3efining moment is when I receive a women with a uterine rupture (posterior) and there was 3 pr 4 hours that the women take the decision to go to the health centers when it's take longer and absence of contractions while it was common for her to deliver at home.
It takes also a certain time to decide to refer to the district hospital because the care provider was thinking about fetus death in utero, The ambulances called took 1.5 hours to pick her and return to the hospital. At the arrival the patient were highly shocked and die in resuscitation. A c-section in post Morten show a posterior uterine rupture.
That was the moment I kept in my hurt and why I had an idea to make a project
