Our idea is that’s why innovative because the first time the number of 70000 thousand scouts volunteers are sensitizing to play their role in the 30 districts of Balochistan for the elimination of gender based violence against women and sensitize their communities as well. In Balochistan women are facing lots of social, political and health related problems. They don’t know about their rights, women are not involved in decision making process and most of women are illiterate, they have no access to education. Proper socio- economic and health facilities are not available in rural areas even their participation is ignored in development of urban areas of Balochistan. They have no right to mobility.
The main focus of the project will include address the following areas;
To enhance the capacity of CSOs /Stakeholders to learn and acquire skills to respond the issue best and in effective manner.
To reduce Gender based violence GBV through advocacy and Community sensitization
To empower women by fostering their negotiating skills and participation in decision making
To introduce standardized tools and mechanism for data collection and preservation

When was the project initiated? or When are you planning to begin?
The project initiated in January 2010 after annual programmatic review of 2009 the management decided that to take place action violence against women through empowerment and sensitization of 70000 thousand scouts’ volunteers and enable them to take action and mobilize communities around 30 districts of Balochistan.
Describe your idea and explain why it is innovative
Our idea is that’s why innovative because the first time the number of 70000 thousand scouts volunteers are sensitizing to play their role in the 30 districts of Balochistan for the elimination of gender based violence against women and sensitize their communities as well. What is your initiative’s implementation strategy?
A systematic and structured strategy will be adopted through sensitization and capacity building of scouts unit leaders at provincial level, door to door visit by scouts in 30 districts for awareness of communities, establishment of coordination network among stakeholders, formation of women group ,arrangements of seminars/workshops , debates , development & dissemination of IEC material ,media awareness campaign, holding advocacy and community sensitization meetings, introducing standardized tools and mechanism ,and establishment of Lawyer forum to smartly achieve project objectives .
In your opinion, what are the main barriers or obstacles in connection with this theme?
In the context of Balochistan there are the obstacles and barriers in terms of security situation, behaviors of religious scholars about non-governmental organizations but in our case we have 70000 scouts’ volunteers around 30 districts of Balochistan and all these are local.

We are generating alliances with our scout’s volunteers at district level, community based organizations, and scouts open groups, gender activists and other stakeholders.

3. Availability of trained and equipped professional scouts volunteers to address the issue

What is the main impact that your initiative might generate?
The sensitization of 70000 scout’s volunteers, establishment of support system in the form of networking and referral linkages, lawyer forum, women’s group, resource center and notably the formation of CBOs and active participation of community members as employees will definitely contribute to the sustainability of the project beyond its timeframe. In addition, the acquired capacity and skills of the scout’s volunteers, community and its members will support to run the project on its own because during the complete course of project implementation the scouts volunteers, community members will be encouraged and appreciated to foster their determination to own the ownership of the project after its timeframe. The infrastructure including the resource centers will be handed over the open scouts groups of each district so that they can run the project at their on own resources however regular technical support and guidance will be provided by BBSA.
