Por que a ideia é única e qual o diferencial em relação aos demais projetos do mesmo campo de atuação?
Because it is a support network made by women for women – not from health professionals for “patients” – where personal experiences and the path taken by each one towards a conscience about child-birth and an active and respectful child-birth is valued.
Unfortunately, the training of our health professional, especially regarding pregnancy and child-birth, doesn’t take the women’s wishes into consideration, nor their expectations and knowledge around the subject.
We are treated like sick people, incapable of deciding about our own bodies. It is crucial for a woman to hear from the lips of another woman that it is possible to have assistance focused on what she deems important, a humanized assistance.
Our intention is to revive the women knowledge that was previously passed from mother to daughter, from older to younger women, reviving themes and the strength of the feminine.

Quais foram os impactos obtidos até o momento?
The network has an easy access by the users of the obstetric system through the internet, but it has also allowed for increased interaction and support for existing Child-birth Support Groups (GAPPs), as well as for encouraging new groups.
That way, the actions gained national momentum, our ideals have been vastly broadcasted, helping women to achieve dignified child-births focused on their own needs.
Problema
We believe that providing information and emotional support to women, we will help to decrease the high occurrence of cesarean sections without a clear and objective medical prescription. The WHO recommendation is for them to represent 15% of total number of childbirths, but in Brazil it is as high as 80% in private health care and almost 30% in public health care. By decreasing the number of cesarean sections we also decrease the number of maternal deaths and increase the breastfeeding rates, which directly favors our children.

Public policies:
It is in our interests that the existing laws are enforced, such as:
- Law 11.108/2005 about the right to have a companion during childbirth (extended to the private assistance)
- Regulation nº 985/GM of August 5th 1999, aout ensuring the creation of normal childbirth centers bound to the public health system.
Audience in the Public Ministry shows ways to decrease the number of Cesarean sections in Brazil:
In July 2006, Parto do Princípio Network denounced the excess of cesarean sections done in the health sector in a complaint bill to the Federal Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo, in a document with 35 pages and more than 30 scientific papers.
The document spoke about the corporatism of doctors, the inefficiency of the National Health Agency in supervising and regulating the sector, the many ways in which the women are being misled to accept unnecessary cesarean sections, the disrespect towards a majority of women who would like to have a normal childbirth and are unable to (80%), the interventionist formation of medical school students, among other subjects.
Due to the relevance of this document, the Public Ministry realized an audience in the city of São Paulo, gathering, for the first time around this subject, authorities from the Health Ministry, National Health Agency, Federal Medicine Council, Regional Medicine Council, Association of Private Hospitals, Federal Nursing Council, São Pauli Medica School and Health Insurance delegates.

-To empower the women for them to become masters of their bodies&decide for themselves, based on scientific truth, what is the best type of childbirth for which situation.
-To decrease the cesarean section rates in the private health system, this is as high as 80% as of today.
-To improve quality of the public assistance, ensuring a more positive childbirth experience.

(*Actions 2nd Part)Around 200 people were sitting in the auditorium of the Public Ministry, as well as delegates from the main hospitals in São Paulo, like Pro Matre, Santa Joana, Santa Catarina, São Camilo, Albert Einstein, Beneficência Portuguesa, Albert Sabin, Samaritano, Bosque da Saúde and Hospital Universitário. Among the health insurance companies, there were delegates from Amil/Amico, Medial, Bradesco Saúde, Dix Amico, Unimed e Samcil.
In responde to the questionings of the Public Ministry, all the represented sectors shared an agreement about 2essential topics:
1.Normal childbirth is better to the health of mothers and babies.
2.The reality is alarming: Brazil does too many cesarean

- To get the necessary credibility for our actions to be decisive in the change of public policies and formation of our childbirth assistance professionals.
Qual(is) seria(m) os obstáculos para a sua inovação?
We are a virtual and voluntary network, and our actions depend on the goodwill of some participants of the network, so in many times we extrapolate the deadlines for the elaboration of materials or the momentum to take actions forward, as we do not have any kind of hierarchy in the network. That is to mention just ONE internal problem: we lack the organization. However, the network has always worked that way and we were successful as possible, so it is a model that pleases us, in a way.
An extreme problem would be that we deal with public health – we are dealing with the training and actions of professional that are rarely questioned, as they are considered the holders of knowledge due to a cultural issue.

To increase scope and range of the network, making it renown all around the country as a place where any woman can get to quality information and support for having a dignified childbirth.

Em que momento decidiu criar/liderar esta inovação? Conte-nos a sua história
In 2005, some women who participated in a discussion group in the internet reunited to give birth to the Parto do Princípio Network. Since the first activity, when forming the network, it was clear that it was a group of common women (not professionals of the area) that had learned more about childbirth, speaking for other common women who did not yet know much about it or faced this reality. The intention of the network is to revive the traditional knowledge, passed from person to person, from woman to woman, as our grandmothers did in the times when there was a community experience. We then created a name, a logo, a discussion group, a website and found the GAPPs.
Conte-nos a biografia do(a) inovador(a) social que criou ou lidera esta inovação
The network was idealized by Ingrid Lotfi, a Systems Analyst and a mother, when she perceived the need to formalize something that already happened informally: a great network of women who helped other women, pregnant, already mothers or not, to engage in active maternity. Encouragement words, help through virtual forums, phone calls or live meetings are some forms of activism of those women, passionate about normal childbirth and breastfeeding, with autonomy and freedom for giving birth to and raise their children.
The Parto do Princípio Network has a collaborative character, without hierarchies, as everything is decided collectively and dynamically. The availability of the participants varies, and we have new participants entering the network every day. There are women from many areas. There are psychologists, systems analysts, nurses, journalists, physiotherapists, teachers, doulas, all engaged in contributing with the knowledge they possess. The network enables collaboration, dividing work by sectors. The women can contribute with writing texts for publication, organizing the website, treating images, advertisement and so on.

Bom, para começar por ser uma estrutura de Rede em Internet, as pessoas conseguem se comunicar com mais rapidez, com isso idéias sobre como podemos ajudar a mulheres e famílias nas questões sobre Gestação, Parto etc... faz com que estejamos sempre tendo novas idéias, e compartilhando nosso trabalho em diferentes estados do Brasil.
Trocamos muitas informações, pesquisamos e nos atualizamos diariamente, já que tudo se transforma e muda, precisamos sempre estarmos atentas para poder dar a melhor informação possível as pessoas que nos procuram com dúvidas, pedidos de ajuda, etc...
No meu trabalho, que é totalmente voluntário, a Parto do Princípio me possibilitou estar sempre com suporte ou dando suporte a outras ativistas da Rede, aonde buscamos sempre levar informações, sejam tanto sobre fisiologia do parto, informações baseadas em evidências científicas (OMS etc...), informações de cunho jurídico, sobre como proceder em se tendo seu direito castrado pelo sistema.
Com isso a Parto do Princípio e a sua dinâmica mudaram a minha forma de trabalho voluntário.

Durante minha gravidez a tres anos atras procurei a rede para ter informações sobre o parto ativo. Descobri livros e grupos de apoios e listas de discussões que me auxiliaram a encontra o melhor caminho para ter um parto normal ativo. me senti fortalecida e confiante para ter um parto natural onde eu fui respeitada em minhas escolhas do começo ao fim.

Queria pedir para vocês nos apresentarem maiores informações a respeito das ações e dos resultados da Rede em relação a:
- regulamentação dos planos de saúde
- influência em políticas públicas.
Acredito que esses dois fatores são o que trás maiores inovações ao trabalho realizado por vocês. Além do fato de ser mais que uma rede de mulheres que valoriza e resgata a troca de experiência do "ser mãe" - o que já é muito interessante, é fundamental vocês mobilizarem e realmente trazerem benefícios para a sociedade tornando mais humanizado o serviço de saúde e a política de saúde.
Por favor, complementem isso na apresentação de vocês.

Audiência no Ministério Público aponta caminhos para diminuir cesarianas no Brasil
Em julho de 2006, a Rede Parto do Princípio denunciou o excesso de cesarianas no setor de saúde suplementar ao Ministério Público Federal de São Paulo, com um dossiê de 35 páginas e mais de 30 estudos científicos.
O documento falava sobre o corporativismo dos médicos, a ineficiência da Agência Nacional de Saúde (ANS) na fiscalização e na regulamentação do setor, as formas como as mulheres estão sendo enganadas para aceitar cesáreas desnecessárias, o desrespeito à maioria das mulheres brasileiras que querem ter parto normal e não conseguem (80%), a formação intervencionista dos estudantes de medicina, entre outras questões.
Devido à relevância desses questionamentos, o Ministério Público Federal realizou uma audiência na cidade de São Paulo, reunindo, pela primeira vez em torno do tema, autoridades do Ministério da Saúde, Agência Nacional de Saúde (ANS), Conselho Federal de Medicina, Conselho Regional de Medicina, Associação dos Hospitais Privados, Conselho Federal de Enfermagem, Escola Paulista de Medicina e representantes de planos de saúde.
Estiveram presentes cerca de 200 pessoas na platéia do auditório do MP, além de representantes dos principais hospitais paulistas, como Pro Matre, Santa Joana, Santa Catarina, São Camilo, Albert Einstein, Beneficência Portuguesa, Albert Sabin, Samaritano, Bosque da Saúde e Hospital Universitário. Entre os planos de saúde, estavam representadas as empresas Amil/Amico, Medial, Bradesco Saúde, Dix Amico, Unimed e Samcil.
Em resposta aos questionamentos do Ministério Público, todos os segmentos representados estavam de acordo com relação a dois pontos essenciais:
1 - O PARTO NATURAL É MELHOR PARA A SAÚDE DA MÃE E DO BEBÊ.
2 - A REALIDADE É ALARMANTE: O BRASIL PRATICA CESARIANAS EM EXCESSO.
Partindo destes princípios, o grande desafio da audiência foi analisar o que vem sendo feito por cada uma das partes envolvidas na assistência ao parto no Brasil e formular as próximas medidas para reverter este cenário. Após um dia inteiro de depoimentos e debates, o Ministério Público fechou os principais encaminhamentos do processo, destacando as seguintes prioridades:
1 - Promover acesso à informação:
a) Realizar campanhas de informação, resgatando que “o normal é parto natural”.
b) Elaborar uma cartilha oficial direcionada às usuárias, para ser distribuída por operadoras, médicos e hospitais. Essa cartilha deverá esclarecer os benefícios do parto natural, os riscos das cesarianas e apresentar os direitos das mulheres em relação à Lei do Acompanhante. Deverá esclarecer ainda que doulas não podem ser consideradas acompanhantes, mas parte da equipe de assistência.
c) Promover ação estratégica junto aos meios de comunicação, em conjunto com o Ministério da Saúde para campanha em mídia de massa e merchandising social.
2 - Criar certificação para hospitais que realizem mais partos naturais (inspirado no exemplo dos Hospitais Amigos da Criança).
3 - Assegurar que enfermeiros obstetras possam ser responsáveis por partos naturais.
4 - Solicitar ao Conselho Federal de Medicina que inclua em seu código de ética uma regulação específica para indicações de cesáreas.
5 - Criar mais casas de parto no país, anexas a hospitais.
6 - Investir na revisão da formação dos profissionais de medicina via Ministério da Educação, orientando os futuros profissionais sobre a importância do parto natural.
a)Ampliar capacitação de médicos na assistência ao parto, com base nas evidências científicas.
7 - Viabilizar melhor remuneração do parto normal
a)Eventualmente estabelecer um teto para pagamento de cesáreas e vincular financeiramente a proporção parto natural e cesáreas.
8 - Disponibilizar publicamente as porcentagens de partos naturais e cesáreas realizadas por médicos e hospitais, tornando o acesso transparentes e rápido para o usuário fazer suas escolhas enquanto consumidor.
Com essa audiência, as considerações e reivindicações da Parto do Princípio foram consideradas LEGÍTIMAS, ou seja, o Ministério Público reconhece que as mulheres têm temos DIREITO a um melhor atendimento no parto. O próximo passo, agora, será sentar em mesas de negociações com as partes, para que sejam firmadas, em documento, ações práticas que tornem possíveis alcançar os objetivos propostos para um melhor atendimento ao parto no país.
A RESOLUÇÃO NORMATIVA 167/2008, QUE ENTRARÁ EM VIGOR NO DIA 02/04/2008, ATUALIZA O ROL DE PROCEDIMENTOS MÉDICOS QUE CONSTITUI A COBERTURA MÍNIMA OBRIGATÓRIA A SER GARANTIDA PELOS PLANOS DE SAÚDE COMERCIALIZADOS A PARTIR DE 2/1/1999 E INCLUI OS PROCEDIMENTOS CONSIDERADOS INDISPENSÁVEIS AO DIAGNÓSTICO E TRATAMENTO DE TODAS AS DOENÇAS QUE COMPÕEM A CLASSIFICAÇÃO INTERNACIONAL DE DOENÇAS CID DA ORGANIZAÇÃO MUNDIAL DE SAÚDE.
O ROL NÃO PRETENDE SER UM CATÁLOGO DE TODOS OS PROCEDIMENTOS EXECUTADOS PELA MEDICINA DO PAÍS E SUA IMPOSIÇÃO É SUBMETIDA A REVISÕES PERIÓDICAS ATRAVÉS DE CÂMARA TÉCNICA DESIGNADA ESPECIFICAMENTE PARA ESTE FIM, COM A PARTICIPAÇÃO DE REPRESENTANTES DAS SOCIEDADES DAS DIVERSAS ESPECIALIDADES MÉDICAS.
- A REFERIDA RESOLUÇÃO EM SEU ARTIGO ART. 5º CAPUT E §1 DO
ARTIGO 5º, DISPÕE QUE OS PROCEDIMENTOS E EVENTOS QUE POSSUEM
COBERTURA OBRIGATÓRIA, LISTADOS NESTA RESOLUÇÃO NORMATIVA E NOS SEUS ANEXOS, PODERÃO SER EXECUTADOS POR QUALQUER PROFISSIONAL DE SAÚDE HABILITADO PARA A SUA REALIZAÇÃO, CONFORME LEGISLAÇÃO ESPECÍFICA SOBRE AS PROFISSÕES DE SAÚDE E REGULAMENTAÇÃO DE SEUS RESPECTIVOS CONSELHOS DE CLASSE, RESPEITADOS OS CRITÉRIOS DE CREDENCIAMENTO, REFERENCIAMENTO, REEMBOLSO OU QUALQUER OUTRO TIPO DE CONTRATUALIZAÇÃO ESTABELECIDO PELAS OPERADORAS DE PLANOS
DE SAÚDE. E QUE TODOS OS PROCEDIMENTOS LISTADOS NO ANEXO I
DESTA RESOLUÇÃO NORMATIVA PODERÃO SER EXECUTADOS PELOS
PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE, DE ACORDO COM O CAPUT DESTE ARTIGO,
DESDE QUE SOLICITADOS PELO MÉDICO ASSISTENTE, COM EXCEÇÃO DOS PROCEDIMENTOS VINCULADOS AOS DE NATUREZA ODONTOLÓGICA, QUE
- PODERÃO SER SOLICITADOS OU EXECUTADOS DIRETAMENTE PELO CIRURGIÃO DENTISTA.
- DE ACORDO COM O PARÁGRAFO ÚNICO DO ARTIGO 16, PARA FINS
DE COBERTURA DO PARTO NORMAL LISTADO NO ANEXO I, ESTE
PROCEDIMENTO PODERÁ SER REALIZADO POR ENFERMEIRO OBSTÉTRICO,
HABILITADO DE ACORDO COM AS ATRIBUIÇÕES DEFINIDAS PELA LEI Nº7.498, DE 25 DE JUNHO DE 1986, QUE REGE O EXERCÍCIO PROFISSIONAL DO ENFERMEIRO, REGULAMENTADA PELO DECRETO Nº 94.406, DE 08 DE JUNHO DE 1987, CONFORME DISPOSTO NO ARTIGO 5º DESTA RESOLUÇÃO NORMATIVA.
