Hi Marlet,
Can you speak more about the faith-based component of what you're envisioning? I do believe the religious and faith-based community has been overlooked as allies to ending violence and inequality toward women. I'd like to hear more about your perspective on that and community allies thus far.
Thanks, much.
Best,
Jimmie Briggs
Thanks for your comments. I strongly believe that faith based strategy and intervention will help prevent if not totally eradicate violence against women. In my experience, if people especially the "Oppressor" learned of the love of the Jesus and they are empowered by the Holy spirit through the guidance of the scripture, People have the tendency to change, to change for the better because its no longer their physical being whose at work but its the power of the Holy Spirit guiding them to behave in a certain behaviour as inspired by Jesus. So far, this project is still for implementation. But i have high conviction that people lead by Christ do really make big changes in their behavior that eventually influence others primarily their family and eventually the community.
Faith based communities have long claimed to work for peace in society. As perhaps the only priest on this forum it might be a good idea to develop this component a little more. Why is there such a big silence from religious organisations on such a widespread problem like domestic violence.
Fr Paul
I highly agree with your comments that faith based component on resolving violence is basically one if not the best strategies in ending up violence. It is with deep regret that i have never seen a collaborative efforts of many religious group insofar as info dissemination and proper seminar workshops to inform the public at large. Precisely, a concerted efforts of religious groups will help a lot in solving this problem. It can be started in one church and community and can later be replicated to other churches. In that way a lot of people will be informed. The sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the best solution for people to change by the power of the Holy Spirit.
