Paulding Sorba

We are encouraging CHANGE by installing “GATEWAY” trails in and around Paulding County. We are using IMBA’s model for constructing and implementing these trail systems. IMBA is drawing on decades of accumulated trail building expertise to offer a new model for community-based mountain bike trails. Dubbed "Gateway Trails," these trail systems will bring mountain biking recreation closer to millions of potential riders. GATE WAY TRAILS can be built in small parks - next to greenways, playgrounds and ball-fields - to broaden the recreational offerings in suburban and urban communities.

During the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. In 2008, only one state (Colorado) had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%. Thirty-two states had a prevalence equal to or greater than 25%; six of these states (Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia ) had a prevalence of obesity equal to or greater than 30%. We need more opportunities for the families of Paulding County to ride a mountain bike. We are installing these small mountain parks to act as puddle jumpers to stay in line with our mission. GATEWAY trails will encourage participation in regular physical activity.

Not only am I president of Paulding Sorba, I am also a client. I am in the outdoors every chance I get and I encourage everyone around me to do the same. I am also a Elementary Physical education teacher so I see first hand the lack of activity outside of school. I want to CHANGE that and I think trails could be the answer.
