I am director of a community dance group called Jericho Breakers in Uganda (www.jerichobreakers.webs.com) which is a helping youths in the community to face their responsibilities and also to use the their passion, talents & potentials to develop the community. The dance group has also managed to set up free concerts which help the youth to get a positive lounging place where they get spent their time every holidays when the youth are back at home.
I am also an activist, volunteer and a graphic designer at Bavubuka Foundation which is a nonprofit organization that believes connecting youth with music and the arts can transform lives and unify diverse communities.
the foundation is dedicated to creating spaces and educational programs that nurture and empower a new generation of young leaders, in Uganda and all of Africa, who will use their voices to communicate positive messages and affect positive change in their communities and the world. peaceful & which welcome all cultures from all parts of the world.
In my country, the northern section of the country has been hit by war for the past 25 year by Lord resistence Army (LRA)and so many people have been displaced over time.
other parts of the country have been affected from various problems varying from HIV/AIDS pandemic, poverty, poor Sanitation, Starvation, poor eduaction system, the list is endless.
However i passionately want change to happen in the following areas.
ARTS.
in my country during high school level its now a government policy to encourage student to take sciences compulsory & arts have been discouraged through cutting off funding at university & highkening pass mark points yet so many young adult can be empowered through art like music, crafts, poetry, as the list goes on.
EMPOWERMENT
i want to see youth empowered through activities they're passionate about. for instance if someone has a passion in technology, the he should be helped be educated in that particular area. He should be also taught how to use that knowledge not only to get money but also to elevate and help in the community.http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001128615303&v=info&ref=ts#!/pages/THE-AFRICAS-GHETTO-MOVEMENT/116383681740420?v=info&ref=ts
EDUCATION.
in my country a child spends somewhat 12years from primary to high school level of education but throughout this time we're taught theoretical education that in case you drop out school, you can not do some thing constructive.
therefore i wish to see fundamental change in the education.
