Alison has worked at the Centre for Children and Families in the Justice System (formerly the London Family Court Clinic) since 1991. As a researcher, her interest is in ethical, respectful and sensitive ways to help vulnerable and marginalized people bring their voices into the debate on policy, laws, and practice. She is also interested in encouraging research methodologies that create useful information and in culling the literature for the "best evidence" to inform interventions for children, adolescents, women, and families. She has recently conducted studies of peer-to-peer violence, child protection mediation, children whose mothers are in prison, and child victims of sexual abuse. The ethical guidelines she developed for the Centre have been adopted by a variety of other community-based organisations which engage in research. With Dr. Linda Baker, she has co-authored a number of training resources on the topic of children who live with violence against their mothers and been invited to speak on this topic in Canada, Sweden, the U.K., Japan and Hong Kong.
