David A. Levine teacher, author, facilitator, and musician, has been working with students, teachers, and parents across the United States and abroad since 1984. He is the founder and director of Teaching Empathy, a training, development and research group which is devoted to creating emotionally safe learning communities. The emphasis is on musical expression, social skills development, leadership training, community building initiatives, and curriculum design and implementation. He was the chief trainer for the Northeast Regional Center's Safe and Drug Free Schools Program for the U.S. Department of Education, was an elementary and middle school teacher, and has offered training sessions, workshops, and keynote speeches for hundreds of school districts, state agencies, and other educational organizations across the country.

David is also the author of four books: Teaching Empathy, Building Classroom Communities, The School of Belonging Plan Book and The Peer Partners Handbook. His recordings include Dance of a Child's Dreams (Parent's Choice Gold Award Winner), and the Bully Tapes (teaching pro-social skills through music). David utilizes his books and recordings as part of his social culture building process.
