Y.E.N.I. - Youth Evolutionary Network Initiative | Project Manager / Social (Net)Worker | Famagusta Turquie
I run an initiative called Y.E.N.I. - Youth Evolutionary Network Initiative, and it's all about making youths use their skills, talents, gift, knowledge and ideas to impact their communities through collaborative work. Currently Y.E.N.I. has its Arts and Music arm active; organizing themed-concerts and activities to address society's issues such as love, unity in diversity, environmental awareness and social responsibility.
Give me some jazz! Let the poems overlap the saxophone's notes. Pour me a cup of sweet java and put me right in between friends on a cushion. Let's take a walk afterwards and talk about ways we had evoked changes in our communities and how to make them sustainable. Let's talk about the success and plan for the next series of actions.
I want a world where the youths gets to be today's partner in the course of decision - community molding and national building. Being a tomorrow's leader is an added benefit or duty - depends on where you stand.
Y.E.N.I. under my supervision as well as like-minded youths have organized 2 themed concerts: Love Jamz (19.03.10) and Unity Jamz (19.02.10). The last of the trilogy - Green Jamz is scheduled for 05.10. We are currently working on a Wavin' Flag project inspired by K'naan and it would involve students from over 68 countries here at the Eastern Mediterranean University - singing and dancing, exhibiting unity in such a multicultural community.
Other Y.E.N.I. activities includes The Weekly Photo Blog which aims at exhibiting creativity and innovative means of having a voice in today's world.
I gained some management experience while working as a volunteer in student organizations such as AIESEC, EESTEC and IEEE Student Branch. I got some technical experience working as a student assistant in Computer Labs and Centers at my University and these skills and experience have sure helped my handling of Y.E.N.I.
I am currently on the Youth Advisory Board for the Challenge:Future and it is sure one avenue to experience multicultural collaboration - working with 14 other youths from different part of the world; discussing, debating and brainstorming of ways of optimizing youth contribution to shaping of the world as we know it.
