Stéphane is the Executive Director of Citizens Market, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that empowers consumers with tools to shop their values. Stéphane conceived Citizens Market in his (ongoing) efforts to learn about the social and environmental impacts of the companies behind the brands he buys. He is a recipient of the 2009 Echoing Green Fellowship, which enabled Citizens Market to hire him as a full-time director. Stéphane received a Master in Public Policy in 2007 from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was the Co-President of the student Corporate Responsibility Council. Stéphane holds a B.A. in international relations from Haverford College. In addition to his full-time work with Citizens Market, Stéphane works part-time as a Collaborations Consultant for the Private Sector Team at Oxfam America, assisting in the launch of a micro-insurance pilot in Ethiopia and designing tools to build Oxfam's capacity for innovative collaborations with companies. He has worked as a caseworker, manager and independent consultant for various nonprofit mental health housing organizations in New York City. He grew up in the fine state of Maryland and currently lives with his wife, Justine, in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
