World Sport Chicago (WSC) executes unique programs and events to increase capacity, capability and/or engagement of community-based sport. It leverages its participation in communities of practice and communities of social change to support programming that delivers tangible social improvements and provides insights and impact at scale. WSC delivers programming designed to help kids find a sport that is right for them by building awareness of the wide variety of sport options and opportunities throughout Chicago. Finally, WSC enables research on the impact and application of sport for social development, translating results of this research and best practices to private and public policy makers.
World Sport Chicago (WSC) is an independent non-profit organization formed as the legacy of Chicago’s Bid for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Founded in 2006, the organization acts on the belief that sport is an important tool for social development in promoting sport opportunities that teach values to improve the lives of individuals and that strengthen families and communities. WSC seeks to apply world-class resources to develop and host meaningful sport programs and events and supports a variety of opportunities to youth regardless of physical or visual ability. Finally, WSC strives to be an active participant among thought leaders in the field of sport for social development through enabling research and the dissemination of best practices on the positive impact sport can play in at-risk and under-served urban communities.
