Much repulsion to tourism industry has been experienced in northern Pakistan since the fighting against Taliban in the Sawat valley, parts of the Malakand division and the tribal areas is going on. Owing to growing ascendancy of the Taliban forces, the sense of security and peace, the vital factors for tourism development, has potentially been undermined.
This has brought untoled sorrows to those insitutions and individuals whose livelihood opportunities related to tourism industry.
But I must say that the Chitral, the Hindukush region, and Gilgit-Baltistan are still safe for tourists, who are seen whilst trekking and doing culture tours in the region.
But the road leading to northern Pakistan passes through the war-infested Malakand division so it has drastically reduced the inflow of the backpackers coming to visit the Kalsh valleys and Chitral by road.
let's hope for the best for tourism in the future!
