It took me a while but I finally got all the answers published in order.

4.- How many people are in your database that receive your newsletter?

Our newsletter holds more than 17,000 members which we have personally invited and signed up through our website. We specifically invite people with travel interests and touristic projects (that resemble our philosophy) to receive it. Our newsletter brings the most interesting information that has been published through our website to our members.

Our newsletter:

a) Shows our members new options for places to go visit.
b) Gets our articles out there, promoting what we have encountered and enjoyed.
c) It lets our friends and members know where we are (since it is us who are travelling all around the country nowadays).

3.- Additionally, you mention a Responsible Tourism Campaign. Could you tell us more about this campaign and where you've rolled it out?

Our Responsible Tourism Campaign promotes a travel behavior and philosophy based on respect and companionship with the people, environment and culture of the visited places.
The way we “roll” this is by publishing articles that explain responsible tourism best practices. With these articles we show real world examples of actions in favor or against respectful practices.

2.- You mention pocket guide books that you create for travelers - do you sell these to generate income for your project?

There has been a problem with the translation in our entry, we have already sent word to the people at the website about this as well, but here I will explain about this issue:

We do not have any type of pocket guide/book implementation of our guide, what we meant to say is that traditionally pocket guide books have worked because they're very size-comfortable to carry around while travelling and that we too have focused on using IT's to create our information in a way that it can be accessed through mobile means. This will help people travelling (with their notebooks but most importantly iPods or cell phones) access information RIGHT IN THE SPOT. Our website can be accessed whenever and wherever needed, even at the same place that our articles describe. Mobile access to our information grants our users the unique advantage of always having our tips, recommendations and articles at hand.

The way we generate income for our project is with smartly placed ads. Users will be displayed ads about related services for the information they are viewing. Mexico is a very big country and we do not show ads in articles about a restaurant, hotel or tour service that is 1000 kms away from the place you are reading about, but rather about services that you could acquire if you where already there.

1.- Could you tell us more about your online community? How many people are involved?

We created the online community for people to share their travel experiences in Mexico. These experiences will help future travelers with personal tips and recommendations as to what is there to visit, where to get something to eat, where to rest, who to look for, etc.

Different people can share their experiences about the same place thus giving us different descriptions of it based upon the writer's own experience. Even with the same tour, meal or hotel people will always understand and live things in their own specific way. Then, the articles will promote specific cultural and natural aspects of the visited places in an unlimited number of unique points of view. Likewise, if it were only two of us travelling and writing we could never reach and visit all there is in Mexico, but thanks to the Internet and the online community we seek out for those travelers that have visited or will visit each and every corner of Mexico and ask them to write about their experience. By sharing the experiences in our online community we will achieve the maximum compendium of information regarding cultural and natural aspects of Mexico.

We have 84 registered members most of which are passive members (they only read articles) and a few who have actively shared their experiences. We are looking forward to promote our online community in a way that all our users (we've had up to 600 unique visits in a single day) sign up and participate with us.
