Mobile Operator Ladies, who are local, educated, young women, travel door-to-door in villages with a mobile phone, listen attentively to villager’s problems and assist them in asking questions and receiving the appropriate answer from an expert at a Help Desk who respond to the women's queries with the use of a database-driven software application and the Internet. Participants have reported greater self-worth, increased incomes, and increased authority over spending decisions through use of the service.
