WE, yes WE all [here] must do the solving of POVERTY simply by putting our actions to work to feed the hungry (where our mouth eats] and NOT expect ANY food or the SEED it comes from, to change what WE are NOT willing to do. LABELS NEEDED! WOW! "...neither in favor nor against" or "out of touch with reality (farming for health)..."? Who adopts a child/seed/food they do not want to raise (over the long haul of health care)?
1) This is a direct example of ignoring the facts (choosing ignorance) at the cost of others (consumers). Each person buying food from 'these farmers' would be better educated if ONLY these farmers buyers/sellers packaging listed how the food made it into their hands. Education begins where ignorance ends; unless the ignorance is the beginning of mis-education. This root is the source of the health of our communities! What are we doing/saying...where are our communities...only on Facebook, Myspace, in emails...?
2) Africa's small farmers are NOT very different than my neighbors, growing enough food in their backyard to modestly feed a three person family (while storing winter-preserves) with help from other neighbors throughout a true community (how many exist anymore) & is the only real difference based on the country in which they (we) reside? It IS unfortunate that our focus is on GM seeds (GMO) & not educating the public immediately about GM foods entering the market today! We need LABELS, LABELS, LABELS, LABELS on products NOW!
