Looking for members, volunteers, organizational partners, etc.

Its up to our community leaders to share their respective voices, and educate others about the value of our 'collective voice' in democracy.  Please continue to introduce any friends or grassroots organizations you know currently working in the East Asian region.  With this platform, we can begin to connect our local efforts to grow social capital, and more importantly, grow together with the global community- across historical/ideological barriers.

In order to continue to grow a larger base of community action campaigns and ground level efforts in East Asia, my organization "Hope 81" is looking to receive some help with our website development (target launch: January 2010).  Please have a look at our recently updated "BETA" version here:

www.hope81.org

The site is meant to provide a basic introduction of our community-based efforts, until we can find some professional web development assistance to get our organization off the ground.  Ideally this upgrade would help us qualify for prospective grants, funding, sponsorship drives, etc.  After nearly 16 months of grassroots networking and pilot projects in the region, and despite minimal funding, we have a great deal of media, content, and exciting news about our changemaking efforts ready to share.  Any interested web developers or freelance designers are welcomed to contact us on the site.  Or go ahead and leave a comment below.

And whether you are interested in connecting with Japan/Japanese culture, or likewise helping Japan connect with the global community, we would love to hear from you!

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that you can also post your call for volunteers on the Changemakers Group under the "Opportunity Volunteer Resources" discussion at

http://www.changemakers.com/en-us/node/53221.

Great regional initiative - good luck to you!

Nice of you to suggest that.  I will go ahead and try to post something there soon!  I'm going to start more discussions in Japanese, which will hopefully make things more interesting for local actors and stakholders here in East Asia -- and encourage more people to step up and get involved.  The door is open for change in this region, and we can definitely take on some new positions of leadership at the grassroots level.  Transnational nonstate actors.  Multi-track diplomacy.  Its already happening on various levels.  I'd just like to bring it all together with this group, in parallel with recent calls by regional political leaders for an 'East Asian Community'.  How can you build an East Asian Community when there are no regional actors cooperating on this changemakers board?  A microcosm of what's lacking here, perhaps...
