COL@R
Children Online @Risk (COL@R) is a group created by the VIA Foundation in South Africa, to build on its advocacy to stop child pornography in Africa. Help us encourage policy, provide education and build awareness of how to keep African children safe online, how to report abuse and how to prevent the abuse of technology and media to produce child sexual abuse images and expose children to harmful content. In the absence of education, the presence of technology puts Africa's Children Online @ Risk. We welcome your expertise, your experiences and your partnership. Visit www.volunteer.co.za to watch an advocacy video and add your voice to a petition to the South African President asking for the passage of child pornography legislation which has been opposed since 2007.
[VIA Foundation's portal www.volunteer.co.za and volunteer television series Spirit In Action were launched by an Ashoka Fellow in 2000 attempting to use media and technology "for good". With Africa being the focus of "bridging the digital divide" VIA is taking a pro-active response preventing the potential increase in the rate of child sexual abuse through the production of child pornography - and simultaneously adressing the growing levels of child on child sexual abuse, caused by exposure to sexually explict media.]
