Games as an effective tool for training and educating people on serious health issues

Hi Everyone in the group!

I am initiating the discussion with a very basic question:Can games really be effective tools for training and educating people on serious health issues like health and diseases?

I would love to hear comments from members, and would share my views in the course of discussion.

All the best

Why not open the topic up a bit? Games could be written to teach archaeology, first aid, problem solving, etc. Instead of DOOM or BlackOPS, perhaps something a bit more like the original MYST would work best... but visually appealing games could possibly get young people's attention and teach them real-world skills and knowledge in a virtual and safe, non-threatening environment.
I am sure it would be possible to write games where the players (or students?) would have to learn enough about a disease to effectively cure/slow/halt its progress before the illness kills/hurts/makes a person sick.
In general, a shift in gaming, news, media, and perspective from negative to positive in more than half the world's population could change things in a dramatic way!

Namaste,
Matthew
