Youth Engagement For Skill Development For Employability

Youth engagement in Pakistan generally, and in its civil commotion areas in particular, has become more critical and alarming over the last 4-5 years. Reason behind this deplorable situation is that our unemployed immature youth after having secondary schooling completed, get frustrated when find no means to earn livelihood. Resultantly, they are lured into crime, as they are potential target to be lured by anti-social elements, including extremist and terrorist groups, now a painful common phenomenon in Pakistan. This is the worst form of confusion and chaos ever seen before in Pakistan, which has fainted the freshness of our talented and industrious societal units, placing their security and integrity at stake that resulted in multiplication of many social evils in the society.

The situation of communal violence in our frontier province has been the worst and infiltration of miscreants there from, to the adjoining areas, including northern Punjab is highly apprehended, as we are located at about 90 miles only from the violent hands. Displacement of about 4.00 Million persons from their homes to other cities within the country is the worst miserable human crises ever witnessed in the world. Could we restore the peaceful living in our frightened and terrorized communities? Could our youth become no more victims of the extremists and terrorists, rather engaged on safe and constructive jobs? Could they be identified the right and wrong way of life? Could we see no more massacres of humanity?

Certainly we will, and are capable to over come all these hardships. We being one nation, united and integrated, with our full zeal and vigor, will win through, to regain our origins. Pak Army is aggressively pursuing an offensive against the fighting militants and deeply involved in rehabilitation of the IDPs. The people of Pakistan fully support the on going military action against the extremists and miscreants, and wants to see it successful that must remain through, until the end of the last evil.

Therefore, rehabilitation of these hard hit masses is linked with sustained endeavors to give the IDPs immediate relief, reconstruction and restoration of their previous peaceful living through launching socio-economic development projects, especially for the displaced youth in terms of skill development for their engagement on constructive jobs.

However, in addition to the corrective measures being taken by our government and other national and international NGOs, we wish to contribute and share its rehabilitation and relief activities from our side as for as possible. While desperately felt with the painful displacement of the IDPs, we have already contacted the Director General (Relief), Relief & Crisis Management Department, Board of Revenue Punjab, Lahore, and informed them about our possible services to engage IDPs youth from communal hit areas at 10% of the total approved strength of our annual intake of students/trainees. We may impart them free education and training plus free books with some monthly stipend to meet their out of pocket expenses. We will also explore our means to engage them on suitable jobs for suitable wages during their course of training. Could any like-minded/visioned individual or organization come up to  help us explore more innovative means and peasures for the rescue of our disdplaced youth.
