The Need: What problem are you trying to solve?
Indonesia have eight Islands province (from 33 all provinces) and two of them (west and east Nusa Tenggara – NTB and NTT) have the lowest Human Development Index (number 31 and 32 and the last is Papua). Almost all the islands provinces are stand on the low level HDI in Indonesia. Infant and maternal mortality rate are very high, and also the case of malnutrition or malnourished. As Islands province the impact of climate change, drought and food insecurity often occur in these area and will affect the immune body system and the end to decreased community health. This condition has a big influence in community productivity. These all problem and condition would like to be address.
The Solution: What is your solution? Be specific!
on the years 2009 Humand resources division of Santiri Foundation has new invention / create new formula of Bio Catalyst named Sari Bumi HxZ. This material come as the core of Fungtional Food Development (F2).
The other result of this product is organic manure – that could increase the plant production. To make sure the impact of the product Santiri Foundation also bring this product to test it in Goverment laboratoty (Health Office at Province level in Mataram NTB). This is the step of the product to have sertification and registered at goverment body who has authority for the health product before launching to the community. This product also is already registered to have a patent sertification (in process) as a functional food to support malnutrition for infant and pregnant/ breasting mother and other disease in the community.
The Model: Walk us through a specific example of how your solution makes a difference; include your primary activities
F2 Product use bio catalyst (sari bumi) as the raw material. This raw material are put from various kind of seed , roots, fruits, leaf and small branch of plant in West Nusa Tenggara area and also in other islands in this region. The form of the product curenly is dodol (traditional food) – solid/ compact with good taste and delicious. This form is familiar in the dayli community life. This form could be modify to other kind of traditional or modern food that attractive and favorite by the children and community. This product also could be form in liquid manner which be drink by the people for inner deseases like diabetes, colesterol, etc. Jell is an other form for this product. This jell form is use for skin elergy, itchiness, irritation, etc. To use this jell it could spread on the skin surface.
This product in general could increase the family income because all the raw material come from the local plant that could be plant by the community around their house hold and this mean could be save the local plant seed from the lost.
Curently to handling the mal nutrition need a time three month to make it better, but for F2 (based on the try out) need only 2 weeks (or 11 days) to reach the same progress. To produce and use the F2 product it is enough to make its with the local way. It is very simple and easy to manage its.To scalling up, it is planning to use mouccas and small sunda civil society network to spead out the idea in the community.

People that will support/[involve in] this program are member of civil society organization (CSO) nodes in eight islands with their networks (each node has about 20 CSO); younger generations as volunteers in Santiri Foundation. Moreover, district governments are hoped to become partners that can support programmatically, as well as private institution with their CSR. Climate change and health are big problems that should be handled using big ammunition collaboratively and sustainability. Therefore, even though there are some international or local institutions that has made big effort in coping with this health problems especially in malnutrition using conventional treatment as doing by Ministry of Health, WFP, etc. It should be to collaborate with all of them as the institution who work i

Founding Story: We want to hear about your "Aha!" moment. Share the story of where and when the founder(s) saw this solution's potential to change the world.
When the triel are visited, children and parents are still remember with ’dodol’ that has been given to them as they has felt the benefit. It works as well with the local NGO activist from many regions that has been tried it.
Whenever Prof. Peter Jaszi, Airforce Clinic Property and patten expert from US visited Santiri Laboratory (2009) and the area where this food is tried, he feels amazing and said that Hamzah’s research is high potential to get nobel as long as it is developed and utilized continuously.
In the discussion with some party including younger generation, it is revealed that if it is scaled up, it will give good benefits for people in different area. It will possibly support world effort to fight back malnutrition problems in the world, especially what happend in Africa and other developing countries
Please describe the goal of your initiative; outline what you are trying to achieve
As malnutrition will influence children growing, it will also influence their intelligence. It is work as well for pregnant woman. Malnutrition and unhealthy pregnant woman will deliver unhealthy baby. On the other hand, the number of famine people is increase in line with the world food shortage. This is the generation disappearance in one side while the world inequity and imbalance omission in the other side.
Climate change that is caused by global warming worsens all the conditions above and generates many diseases in community. The problem is tried to be coped with this functional food.
What has been the impact of your solution to date?
Climate change caused by global warming in addition to aggravate the above conditions, also has also caused the diseases that have been disturbing the health of society at large. These things are the one who tried to be handled by this functional food products
What is your projected impact over the next five years?
With a good collaboration other partner, this product could be known and used by people from other countries. This collaboration is done as well in coping with poverty and world hunger. Hopefully, civil society, district and national government, private institution, and even worldwide people will work together to handle malnutrition, infant mortality, and pregnant mother problems.

Currently Santiri Foundation work together with other institution in many issues of program especially in the Small Sunda and Moluccas area/ region. Not only NGO but also work side by side with community organization, government at district and province level, university and some donors at national and International level. Santiri Foundation also work together with some school/ Islamic boarding school in implement the program.
Are you currently targeting other specific populations, locations, or markets for your innovation? If so, where and why?
Yes, for this innovation foundation has a target to promote poorest people who have limited access to health care service especially for the people with mal nutrition in many areas in Small Sunda and Moluccas. I front hope this program could support malnutrition program not only in Indonesia but also all in the world.
What type of operating environment and internal organizational factors make your innovation successful?
Good structure of organizational, everybody know what and how they will do for the program and all of them open mind. Help and support each other in the team and good team work.

This product of F2 is already produce by Santiri Foundation some years ago. The development and implementation of this product feel very slow because Santiri has no support from any organization. Up to know Santiri just have small chance to sold this product to the community and the result of many could not help to develop program as fast as Santiri hope.
