I am a marketing student hoping to gain support for my idea: a YouTube channel presenting health care reform facts in two min innovative animation videos.

Select the stage that best applies to your solution
Idea (you're poised to launch)
How long have you been in operation?
Still in idea phase, but looking to launch soon
The Need: What problem are you trying to solve?
Health care is rapidly changing in America. Most know this, but many do not know how, why, where or when anything is changing. During this monumental time in the nation's history, U.S. citizens are not on the same page- and with a 1,000 page health care reform bill, that is no easy task.
Society has moved from books to videos and from textbooks to the Internet. Our attention span has shortened, along with our patience. We want the straight facts and the untwisted truth- but do not know how to obtain this desired information.
The Solution: What is your solution? Be specific!
This is why I propose a YouTube channel that presents current, honest and crucial health care reform facts in two min innovative animation videos.
Over the next three years, the project will expand in size to become a trusted and first-choice public reference for health care reform information.
featured videos:
1) "health care facts: Affordable Care Act" 2) "health care facts: donut hole" 3) "health care facts: ACOs" 4) "health care facts: Health Insurance Exchanges" 5) "health care facts: Flexible Spending Accounts/Health Reimbursement Accounts" 6) "health care facts: Patient's Bill of Rights" 7) "health care facts: Small Employer Tax Credits" 8) "health care facts: Consumer Assistance Programs" 9) "health care facts: eliminating lifetime and annual limits on benefits" 10) "health care facts: Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan" 11) "health care facts: the future of Medicaid" 12) "health care facts: the future of Medicare".
The Model: Walk us through a specific example of how your solution makes a difference; include your primary activities
There is no engaging, well-known resource for accurate health care reform facts/information on YouTube. The YouTube channel would consist of a series of short animation videos, each focusing on a specific health care reform topic.
My innovation will be a direct access to health information and education, inform the public on insurance/financing options for health care and serve as a preventive tool or resource for negligent health care decisions of a benighted public.
The channel would stand as a "trusted third party" for critical transaction communications between the American government and the American public. The format would be concise and interest-specific to facilitate the learning experience. It would also be easily searchable, as many companies do not input proper coding when adding a new video or misuse the tagging features. The beauty about this idea is its low-budget, high-impact aspect. For an inexpensive and prompt production, this proposed innovation could reach well over 100,000 people. Moreover, this U.S. model could be duplicated with ease for health care systems and many other governmental organizations in other countries. The Internet connects the world. It is our responsibility to communicate ideas and accelerate social change.
The primary activities would be gathering the health care reform facts and information, creating the two min animation videos for the channel, managing all of the social media outlets, gaining exposure in order to go viral and looking into potential partnerships for expansion and support.
The Marketplace: Who are your peers and competitors? Identify others also working to address the needs you are and what differentiates you from them. What challenges could these players pose to your success or growth?
This Entry is about (Issues)
Social Impact
Founding Story: We want to hear about your "Aha!" moment. Share the story of where and when the founder(s) saw this solution's potential to change the world.
Earlier this summer, I attended a module entitled, "Understanding Managed Markets + Impact of Health Care". There were no more than 20 attendees. Throughout the day, I could not help but think why people within the industry, let alone as American citizens, did not already know this essential information. I knew that there had to be a faster, easier and inexpensive method.
Please describe the goal of your initiative; outline what you are trying to achieve
I am hoping to inform Americans on the basic facts of health care reform. There are many changes bringing many options to explore. This enlightenment will ensure all people will make smarter decisions regarding health care.
What has been the impact of your solution to date?
This project is currently in the idea phase.
Success would be measured by specific YouTube video views, comments and likes, overall YouTube channel views and subscribers, Twitter followers, retweets, @mentions and hashtags, Facebook page likes and comments and overall media coverage and feedback.
What is your projected impact over the next five years?
Once the facts are gathered, the videos are created and the channel is structured, social media outlets will be leveraged for the YouTube channel to go viral. The growth of impact will primarily be within the host country, the United States. Ideally, this model would influence and encourage other organizations or countries to create clear and concise fact-based YouTube channels.
Over the next five years, the project will expand in size to become a trusted and first-choice public reference for health care reform information. Once YouTube channels go viral, they have the potential to reach millions. This is our chance to get all Americans on the same page.
Winning entries present a strong plan for how they will achieve and track growth. Identify your six-month milestone for growing your impact
A fully designed channel with two videos, several other video productions in progress and maximized social media outreach.
Identify three major tasks you will have to complete to reach your six-month milestone
Task 1
Develop a YouTube channel and design its structure (copy, banner and playlists)
Task 2
Develop a two min animation fact video: "health care reform facts: Affordable Care Act"
Task 3
Develop a two min animation fact video: "health care reform facts: donut hole"
Now think bigger! Identify your 12-month impact milestone
YouTube channel would go viral with eight videos posted on the channel (all on different on health care reform aspects).
Identify three major tasks you will have to complete to reach your 12-month milestone
Task 1
Develop six more two min animation fact videos on different health care reform aspects
Task 2
Manage YouTube account and social media to stay current and in touch with viewers and issues
Task 3
Seek public relations efforts and potential partnerships to gain awareness, exposure and support
Sustainability
Tell us about your partnerships
Currently, this project has no partnerships, nor would it necessarily require financial support from them. Partnerships would be useful, however, in gaining accurate information, supporting immediate video expansion and augmenting any additional mass exposure.
Are you currently targeting other specific populations, locations, or markets for your innovation? If so, where and why?
Once the facts are gathered, the videos are created and the channel is structured, social media outlets will be leveraged for the YouTube channel to go viral. The growth of impact will primarily be within the host country, the United States. Ideally, this model would influence and encourage other organizations or countries to create clear and concise fact-based YouTube channels.
What type of operating environment and internal organizational factors make your innovation successful?
YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. It stands as a respected portal for universal information. I am an avid YouTube user and I go to film school. I've seen a lot of great videos and stopped the bad ones midway through. At college, most lesson plans involve at least one YouTube video. Furthermore, I appreciate a good fact- especially if it is a fact that affects me (as health care reform facts do) - and surely many Americans would agree on that, as well.
Health care is important and everyone should be aware of its changes.
Please elaborate on any needs or offers you have mentioned above and/or suggest categories of support that aren't specified within the list
