Innovation
Select the stage that best applies to your solution
Idea (you're poised to launch)
How long have you been in operation?
Still in idea phase, but looking to launch soon
The Need: What problem are you trying to solve?
The most vulnerable and low income earning peoples` access to available health care facilities, which seem to be so expensive for them to afford. So this organization is driving a nation wide campaign to recruit the groups to the National insurance scheme which is run by the government of Kenya to access all facilities both affiliated to the government and the private sector.
The Solution: What is your solution? Be specific!
I would rather prefer to solicit for grant support to initiate Agricultural projects especially in cash crops. Part of the harvests would be disposed off and the cash gained be used to sustain members of the groups in the National insurance scheme,to pay for their monthly premium contributions.this will help them to easily access health care facilities by use of cards issued to them by the scheme`s stakeholders, as well as consuming the rest to maintain stronger bodies.
The Model: Walk us through a specific example of how your solution makes a difference; include your primary activities
The groups grow crops both for cash and domestic use to improve on their personal health;that's for food security and financial support. The crop varieties grown by the groups helps them in their balanced diet, and funds received from the sales normally pays for their premium contributions towards the scheme-so when seeking treatment, they only carry with them the membership cards rather than hard cash. This is good as every one saves in advance for their health prior to sickness, which is also good for cost sharing with the government compared to the past.
The Marketplace: Who are your peers and competitors? Identify others also working to address the needs you are and what differentiates you from them. What challenges could these players pose to your success or growth?
The competitors are there doing their less efforts to help the Kenyan community. This means there is stiff competition since i chose to work with all the relevant organs both from the government side, and the local community groups.I personally find my competitors inactive since most of them are unsound to the society.First, the National health insurance scheme i am working with to enroll the groups of people is a government`s affiliate.Apart from the government, we compiled our workforce with the community based organizations who efficiently help us with a sorted information on areas of problems affecting them. Now the only remaining challenge is financial support since our partners have not capability to support the whole percentage of our requirements.
This Entry is about (Issues)
Social Impact
Founding Story: We want to hear about your "Aha!" moment. Share the story of where and when the founder(s) saw this solution's potential to change the world.
Locally here in my country, the research carried out shows that a big number of people is living under poverty line, and therefore its like the government is overwhelmed with the problems faced by these people.Service delivery is poor, looting of medicine from government facilities and inadequate health facilities and Ambulances causes premature deaths. The amorphous stages set by the project for the vulnerable people is absolutely good, and outright to improve on their health.(1)Farming for food sustainability and financial support.(2)paying for their monthly premiums for easy access to health care facilities.(3)collecting and recycling of waste water from residential places, hotels, industries and factories for climate change.(4)Ridding of stagnant water paves way for environmental comfortability free from stint.
Please describe the goal of your initiative; outline what you are trying to achieve
Health is very important and every one would want to live in a world free of diseases though its impossible.so health is a challenge. Thus, this initiative focuses on health to achieve the following goals:(a)Food security for good health.(b)Alleviate poverty(c)Accessible and affordable health care.(d)Amicable environments.
What has been the impact of your solution to date?
Its not long since we started, but we have mainly focused on recruiting the groups to the National scheme which working for us, as well as laying structures on acquiring chunks of land on which to carry out farming activities for those groups that cannot afford to pay premiums for themselves. Then afterwards, we will embark on health facilities establishment mostly in rural areas to address the issue of premature deaths caused by congestion, and lack of expected service delivery.Underpayment of the service providers is another challenge that needs to be addressed in appropriate time as our research reveals. So we have a lot do within the simplest time available.Thats why we need development partners support, both financially and logistically.
What is your projected impact over the next five years?
Due to Agricultural undertaking for food security, self financial sustenance, comfortable environment, together with the recruitment drive being carried out around the country to enroll the groups to the National scheme which is bound to help the groups to access health care facilities everywhere in the country, then we hope in five years time we shall be able to convince the nation that health is not a threat to a Kenyan people`s health any more.
Winning entries present a strong plan for how they will achieve and track growth. Identify your six-month milestone for growing your impact
We hope to use the National research carried out since we also have regional offices, and the CBO`s efforts for growth.
Identify three major tasks you will have to complete to reach your six-month milestone
Task 1
Asking to form groups with which they will identify themselves afterwards acquring lands on which to grow the crops.
Task 2
construct canals to collect waste water to purify and surply to the farms mostlty in all arid areas.
Task 3
Enroll them with scheme where they will use the funds received from the farm produces to acquire identification cards .
Now think bigger! Identify your 12-month impact milestone
Hold talks with the government to allow us to host major fundraising to a tune twenty billion kshs to establish more facilities.
Identify three major tasks you will have to complete to reach your 12-month milestone
Task 1
After enroling the groups to the National scheme the challenge remains facilities to seek treatment in rural areas.
Task 2
Fundraise a total of twenty-billion kenyan shillings to construct at least two facilities in all constituencies for members.
Task 3
Ask the government to offer acres of land in every constituency on which the facilities will be constructed.
Sustainability
Tell us about your partnerships
The partnership is due to the sharing of the same objectives and stronger intention of service delivery to the communities that have remained under served i passed. Some have completed their service here locally, and are now moving to other countries. so surrendering part of what they have to our staggering foundation for the start. This is motivating us to continue although it had proven futile at the start.
Are you currently targeting other specific populations, locations, or markets for your innovation? If so, where and why?
We simultaneously started running of this organization affairs Nation wide as we have regional offices in all regions. The only thing we are looking forward to do is to launch pilot offices at the grass root to easy the work for our regional officers responsible. If the system works well here in Kenya then we would prefer to move to other countries as well to help in the developing countries in Africa.
What type of operating environment and internal organizational factors make your innovation successful?
We mostly operate in far undeveloped environments and that's why we prefer farming as the best method for self sustainability. The international factor will mainly come in in a way of funding the project, and also when we arrive at the stage of health facilities establishment. The international contractors will offer suitable physical structures as required by the world health organization`s recommendation, plus the construction of the whole facilities for their advanced expertise, compared to our local companies.
Please elaborate on any needs or offers you have mentioned above and/or suggest categories of support that aren't specified within the list
In the field of research the officers like the ones that belongs to people`s health welfare must be sharp and quick to learn and master what their works they intend to collect from any locality. The researchers must as well correlate with the community based groups to source relevant information intended for a certain project.Innovation mainly applies for one to achieve the goals for the project.
