Goodwill Social Work Centre is a registered Indian Non-governmental organisation registered as a Society under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975, Government of Tamilnadu {India}, Foreign Contributions (Regulations) Act 1976, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. It is duly registered under section 12-A {b} of the Income Tax Act 1961.
Since its inception our organisation has been working in the areas of children's rights, children’s rights through artwork, Children’s environmental health rights, humanitarian aid, Intensive family preservation of dysfunctional families, Youth and women development, on-formal employment training for youth, community technology services, environment education and action, social research,, NGO capacity building and networking and NGO consultancy.
Problem
Young girls and women in low and moderate income families in a developing country like India do not have access opportunities for acquiring computer skills and are virtually shut out from accessing computers.Since empowerment of poor girls and young women is a crucial pre-requisite for sustainable development, ICT is considered as one of the most powerful weapons in the empowerment process.Our digital training programme has benefitted young women in learning different computer skills and contracting job work in local workplaces.
Solution
This is a community based ICT project which aims at empowering girls and young women low and moderate income families with technology skills and usage in a community based setting which provides them with intensive hands-on computer literacy training based on real life exercises and helping them with computer skills to advance economically and compete professionally in today’s digital economy and offering them career guidance and information and assisting them for gainful employment in ICT related fields.
