This is a really interesting entry! The idea of having an online platform that connects health care workers and facilities to each other is great. Would you mind filling out your entry form with more details on your initiative? Also, would you mind providing more of a discussion on how your website will make an impact on developing countries? It sounds like a great initiative and we’d really like to hear more from you. Please remember to include all of your additional comments back into your entry form. Thanks!
This is a really great idea but how would you make sure that the ideas being posted were only for maternal health and not for other fields?
Also, if people did not post their newest ideas or information on your site, how would you get them to know about it to get the newest information to the people that need it?
Thanks for your comment. Maternova (http://maternova.net) is up and running. The content is edited and 'editorialized'-- so nothing gets posted in the Innovation Index unless it is very clearly relevant to maternal or neonatal health. That said, we have a whole separate section of the Innovation Index that deals with 'structures and systems' including light, transport, ICT and more because those aspects of the health system are critical to maternal/infant survival as well.
For your second question, we actively research and 'uncover' technologies-- we do not wait for people to find us--though that is increasingly occurring! We also reach out to networks of health professionals and others to let them know that innovations are featured here.
We welcome any and all links to spread the word of course.
I like the idea of consolidating all innovations in one place for greater accessibility. I just wanted to know more information about your plans for dissemination. Are you planning for people to use the information from a mobile platform? Also, are you seeking for them to apply these innovations in a systemic way such that you have a continuum of care that ranges from before pregnancy to when a child is older than 5 and at less risk of death and disability?
Hi Darlene
Thanks. We have lots of ideas about dissemination & packaging but welcome more.
1) online forums of midwives & nurses
2) go-betweens (professionals who are from the U.S./EU/Australia/Canada and work overseas part-time) carrying actual innovations over
3) sms accessibility to query the website...
4) advertisements in professional journals
5) printed catalogue of innovations
6) but mostly we are relying on riding a wave of very active strategies via Web 2.0 and mobile accessibility!

Hi,
I liked your entry! I am really curious about how you will package and share your information?
Thanks, Darlene
