MY IDEA IS TO FOCUS ON MAKING PROVISIONS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PRENATAL AND POST NATAL CARE OF MOTHER AND CHILD FOR A TOTAL PERIOD OF FOUR (4) YEARS. MY IDEA IS TO FOCUS ON MAKING PROVISIONS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PRENATAL AND POST NATAL CARE OF MOTHER AND CHILD FOR A TOTAL PERIOD OF FOUR (4) YEARS. What makes your idea unique?
MY IDEA IS NOT A TOTALLY NEW IDEA. BUT IT IS UNIQUE BECAUSE IT FOCUSSES ON IMPLEMENTATION OF MEDICAL FACILITIES, RATHER ON CONCEPTS. VARIOUS SCIENTIFIC INVENTIONS AND INNOVATIONS IN THE MEDICAL SCIENCES HAS OPENED NEW AVENUES FOR PROVIDING PROPER MODERN HEALTH CARE TO THE PEOPLE. HOWEVER, IN LESS DEVELOPED AREAS SUCH AS MINE, ALL THE MODERN HEALTH CARES THAT WE HEAR OR WHICH PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IS BEYOND THE REACH OF THE MULTITUDES. THE GOVERNMENT HAS DEVISED SEVERAL POLICIES AND PLANS TO HELP THE FACILITIES OF MODERN MEDICINES TO REACH THE MASSES. SUBSIDIES ARE PROVIDED TO MEDICINAL MATERIAL SUPPLIERS TO ENABLE THE MASSES TO HAVE ACCESS TO BENEFIT THE EXPENSIVE MEDICIAL FACILITIES. HOSPITALS ARE EQUIPED TO IMPLEMENT SUCH HEALTH POLICIES. BUT CERTAIN DRAWBACKS STAND IN THE WAY OF IMPLEMENTING THE HEALTH POLICIES TO THE DESIRED LEVELS MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE FACTORS BELOW : I). CORRUPTION II). LACK OF EDUCATION AND PROPER INFORMATION TO THE ILL INFORMED PUBLIC OF THE NEED AND IMPORTANCE OF PRENATAL AND POST NATAL HEALTH CARE OF THE MOTHER AND CHILD III). UNHEALTHY TRADITIONAL HEALTH AND DELIVERY PRACTICES DEPENDING SOLELY ON CHEAPER AND AFFORDABLE TRADITIONAL WET NURSES

MY IDEA IS STILL IN ITS CONCEPT STAGE. BUT I AM CONFIDENT THAT IF IMPLEMENTED IN THE LESS DEVELOPED AREAS, MANY MORE LIVES OF MOTHERS AND CHILD COULD BE SAVED AND THEIR LIVES SECURED FURTHER.
Problem
MY IDEA ADDRESES THE LACK OF PROPER PRENATAL AND POST NATAL CARE OF MOTHER AND CHILD. MANY EXPECTANT MOTHERS AND CHILD GO THROUGH UNNECESSARY TRAUMA OR PROBLEMS OF HEALTH DEFICIENCY, JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR DISREGARD FOR SUCH HEALTH CARES. WHILE SOME ARE UNABLE TO RECEIVE SUCH HEALTH CARES BECAUSE OF LOWER ECONOMIC REASONS, MANY ARE BECAUSE OF LACK OF EDUCATION OR ARE ILL INFORMED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ND OF PROVIDING SUCH NATAL HEALTH CARES.
Actions
SENSITIZING THE PUBLIC AND PROVIDING SOME ACTUAL MATERIAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM TO A LARGE EXTENT. MY CONCEPT COULD BE APPLIED SUCCESSFULLY IN MY AREA AND COMMUNITY WITH THE HELP OF VOLUNTEERS FROM MY COMMUNITY.

MANY EXPECTANT MOTHERS AND CHILD WHO ARE ILL INFORMED OR CANNOT AFFORD THE REQUIRED HELTH CARE, IN MY COMMUNITY OF MY AREA WOULD BENEFIT.

FIRST YEAR : IDENTIFY THE EXPECTANT MOTHERS AND EDUCATE THEM ON THE NEED TO RECEIVE PRENATAL AND NATAL HEALTH CARES. SENSITIZE THE PARENTS OF THE IMPORTANCE AND THE NEED TO RECEIVE SUCH HEALTH CARES. IF THEY SO REQUIRE OR REQUESTS, ARRANGE A FAMILY DOCTOR WHETHER OF THE GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS, OR PRIVATE PRACTITIONERS (EXPENSIVE). IF FINANCE AVAILABLE, RPOVIDE THEM THE ADEQUATE AMOUNT NECESSARY FOR PERIODICAL PRE NATAL CARE CHECK UPS, MEDICATIONS AND MOTHER’S DIET.
SECOND YEAR : PROVIDE MATERIAL OR FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR THE DELIVERY EXPENSES AND FOR THE POST NATAL MEDICATION, NURSING, DIET EXPENSES OF THE MOTHER AND CHILD
THIRD YEAR : CONTINUE TO PROVIDE MATERIAL OR FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR THE POST NATAL MEDICATION, CHILD INNOCULATION/VACINATION, NURSING, DIET EXPENSES OF THE MOTHER AND CHILD
What would prevent your project from being a success?
THE HESITANCY OF THE EXPECTANT PARENTS TO GO THROUGH THE EXPENSIVE PROCESS OF PRE NATAL AND POST NATAL HEALTH CARE EXPENSES. IT IS THE GENERAL OPINION OF MOST PARENTS THAT SUCH HEALTH CARES ARE NOT SO REQUIRED IF CARTAIN PRECAUTIONS ARE TAKEN. SENSITIZING THE PARENTS OF THE LONG TERM POSITIVE HEALTH BENEFIT OF BOTH MOTHER AND CHILD THROUGH SUCH HEALTH CARES SHOULD BE FOCUSSED AND EMPHASIZED.

FIRST, I OUGHT TO LOCATE EXPECTANT MOTHERS, SECOND, PROVIDE MATERIAL OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND THIRD, CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THEM MATERIAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TILL THE COMPLETION OF THE AID PERIOD.

What was the defining moment that you led to this innovation?
I REALIZED THAT MANY PARENTS DID NOT BOTHER TO RECEIVE A COMPLETE PRE NATAL OR POST NATAL HEALTH CARE. MANY PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THAT URBAN DWELLERS NEED SUCH HEALTH CARES MORE THAN THE RURAL PEOPLE BECAUSE MODERN CITY DWELLINGS, UNLIKE RURAL DWELLINGS HAS MANY UNHEALTHY SURROUNDINGS AND ENVIRONMENT THROUGH FOUL AIR, STALE FOODS, VEGETABLES GROWN ON FERTILIZERS, LACK OF PROPER SANITATION IN CITY DWELLINGS, STRESS, LACK OF OPEN SPACES, ETC, TO PROVIDE US A WAY FOR A HEALTHY LIVING. BECAUSE OF THAT, WE NEED ADEQUATE MEDICINAL HEALTH CARE SUPPORTS.
THAT IS, WHAT THE CITY DWELLERS DON’T RECEIVE THROUGH NATURE IN ABUNDANCE AS IN THE RURAL AREAS, HAS TO BE COMPENSATED BY THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM FOUND IN PLENTY IN CITIES. WHAT MATTERS IS WHETHER, WE TAKE HEED OF THE IMPORTANCE TO RECEIVE SUCH HEALTH CARES. CITY DWELLERS NEED TO REALIZE THAT WHAT IS INVESTED IN THE THREE TO FOUR SENSITIVE AND IMPORTANT PHASE OF PRE NATAL AND POST NATAL PERIOD, WILL GO A LONG WAY IN GIVING GOOD HEALTH TO THE MOTHER AND THE CHILD FOR A LONG TIME IN THE FUTURE.
