I want to make sure I understand this entry correctly. Are you proposing that mothers stories about their birth experience be used as part of University curriculum to train doctors and nurses? What sort of information will be in these stories and how will it be used to train a doctor? Are you planning for this to replace or augment certain parts of the curriculum?
Thank you very much for the questions. Yes, I was thinking these fist hand birth experiences would be woven in as a Narrative Medicine component for medical training. Possible story prompts: physical experiences, emotional experiences, spiritual/religious experiences and nutritional experiences. I was steering away from direct interview questions so as to maintain a balance of power, but am wondering if student generated questions can be incorporated at a later point.
You have also made me think about the following:
1. Streamlining the pilot program to an identified University that offers either a combined MD/MPH - or Combined Nursing/Public Health track.
2. Why not pilot the program directly to Public Health Programs?
3. If this component were to create a shift in medical curriculum - what type of analysis could be incorporated into project? Can students who participate in the program be tracked at intervals post-graduation? Would this also generate further interest for the program?

Hello Jake,
