This program has the potential to play an important role in community awareness regarding mental health issues. This can, in turn, reduce stigma of mental disorders and lead to better mental health outcomes for people in need of services, in the short- and long-term. HCAMH is an innovative effort -- grounded in empowering both the community and people with mental disorders. Interventions such as these can improve a community's understanding of the prev and experience of mental illness, and effective treatments,while ensuring these are provided

The importance of raising community awareness and empowering the community to respond, can play an important role in a community's understanding of mental illness and in ensuring that people receive necessary services. It provides also an important model for delivering services in this and other settings as it is likely low cost and relies in large part on communities themselves.
