Zezzo House is a Hartford, Connecticut based affordable housing project founded in 2001 for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. We currently offer substance abuse and secular mental health counseling, and now we intend to expand into the areas of pastoral counseling, reiki, and nutrition to address psycho-spiritual needs. Once the Center is established we also intend to promote wrap-around services by way of local colleges and universities to offer clients educational certification or degrees toward employment. Central to these programmatic expansion is our continued mission of addressing the needs of the whole person that our clients thrive through their illness.
Reason:
I am nominating this project because I believe such services are essential to alleviating the socio-economic challenges of Hartford. This project will also allow us to provide a more effective level of overall care to Zezzo House clients initially, and low-income residents in the city at large. I also believe in the mission and focus of Zezzo House, which has been nationally recognized as a program to emulate.
