The project kids and art offers a theater course to the kids in the city of Horizonte. It is the first course in the region of this category and also offers cultural activities.
Unique and different
The city of Horizonte is growing and did not have a theater course. We decided to bring a theater course in the city, using the art to transform the life of the kids and the youth motivated with the project.
Project plan
The project is starting the final fase we have the show Irmã Natureza (Mother Nature) which is a play for the end of the course. We want to present the show at the public schools, showing the work that we did on the course and to estimulate other kids and youth to take the course.
Partnerships
Centers of Study for the Youth, Colégio Ulisses Guimarães, market of the arts, agency and production cultura. House of the Artists Cearense Happening, Department of Education and Culture of Horizonte. It was an evolution to the project, we changed the view of the department and od another institutions to support non-profit cultural projects, causing social impact at the community that was being helped.

Impact
Students of the public schools were interested by the theater art, and nowadays they mention what changed in their lives because of the theater, they tell their experiences and they are less shy.

Directly are 30 people, indirectly there around 600 people, the public
How do you engage and impact the community?
I make the community to get involved by making them to participate in the process of divulgation, to watch the theater classes and to know our system of work. Also having them to help the process of organization as well.
How do you measure this impact?
Um impacto social muito positivo, pois as crianças que ficavam ociosas no sábado, pois não tem aula na escola, ao invés de ficar em casa assistindo TV iam para a aula de teatro

The access to the community, ways of divulgating the project, the schools to accept the theater course, to improve the number of allies to improve the number of beneficiaries of this project.

Finance details
The project has the support of the Department of Education and Culture that gives us the space and also helps us with the transportation when we have events.
Our team has 5 participants directly involved in the project, with ages between 18 to 24 years old. We have 5 partners’ institutions.
Creative funding
Artistic presentation, invitation to programs by the project to companies and authorities of the local government, visiting, encounters, pamphlets and oral marketing to the community that was being served.
Other non finance needs
To get support from other artistic groups of the region, non-profit and other existent organizations, especially public schools.
The Story
Motivation
I work as an actress since 2000, and I studied in public school and access to the arts was very difficult and I was always interested in theater. I had difficulty of transportation because I was young and the access to the cultural equipments was difficult, also to take courses and to watch the big plays. I was living in Fortaleza, and I knew about the city of Horizonte, a new and beautiful city, that has a lot of energy to start so I decided to create the Kids and Art Project to incentive kids in public school to study theater.
Awards
I received recognition in 2 schools from the Department of Education and Culture and from the Director of these 2 schools, and also from the community to develop this project in the city.
Broader context
The project contribute in quantity where the people that participated in the project Kids and Art are already reproducing what they have learned and they want to develop activities and that the theater course continue in a more advanced course.
Ongoing
That we can create a permanent course in the city of Horizonte related with the city hall.
