Online video ads will play a large role in building swift and immediate social actions that are lead by social action networks, NGOs, and NPOs. Rainfall Media's model is based on developing online video ad products that push huge amounts of traffic to social action tools. These ads will be integrated into existing web video content brands, ad networks, and distribution platforms.
The mission is to leverage online advertising networks to spread the reach of Non-Profits and NGOs: to help them raise money, and to educate the general public about new technology and ideas that further the goals of sustainable development, poverty reduction, and other related fields.
Impact
What will be the impact of your idea?
Report after report shows that, despite advertisers cutting traditional media budgets and the rate of growth slowing, the total dollars spent on Internet advertising will continue to increase. As brands look for ways to reduce their operating expenses, they are shifting hundreds of millions of dollars from hard-to-measure traditional media to online advertising. Online advertising will grow from its current $65 billion market to the projected $106 billion in 2011 (IDC, June 2008.) There is a clear need for NGO/NPOs to access online advertising tools in a more efficient manner.
We will:
-Acquire the right to advertise on behalf of NGO/NPOs across various digital advertising products.
-Create an economic ecosystem whereby Online Video Platforms (Youtube, Hulu) Content Brands (Revision3, Next New Networks, Future Shorts) and Ad Networks can sell advertising space at below market rates in exchange for a tax credit that values the ad products at the current market rates. In regions outside of the USA and EU, the ad space will usually be free.
-Negotiate brand integration ad campaigns that pair "tripple bottom line" for-profit companies with NGO/NPOs; whereby the sponsor pays for the ad campaigns on behalf of the NGO/NPOs in exchange for brand representation.
-Drive traffic to NGO/NPO partner websites and digital social action tools in order to raise awareness about their work and to raise funding for each group.

Charles has successfully negotiated over 600 content distribution and ad sales agreements in the online video industry. He works with content brands, distribution platforms, ad networks, and ad agencies on a daily basis. Charles led the implementation of p2p bit torrent technology for UNICEF, UNHCR, UNDP, and IRIN News; which has allowed millions of people to download broadcast quality video files.

Sustainability
How much will it cost to launch your idea?
If the funds from this competition are awarded, they would be used to hire two full time staff members. The first staff member would be an ad sales consultant that would negotiate brand integration deals, whereby a corporate sponsor would pay a fee to have their brand associated with a NGO/NPO ad campaign. These funds would be used to buy ads within the USA and EU content ecosystem. Please note that billions of ad impressions will be acquired for free, when they exist outside of the USA and EU.
The second full time staff member would be an ad operations professional, who would oversee the technical implementation and metric analysis for the ad campaigns.
Each position would cost 5K USD per month, for a total of 10K USD per month.
Additional funding will be acquired via ad sales commissions for brand integration deals. This is a multi-billion dollar market, so once the organization hits the ground running, it will be fairly simple to ensure that the organization will be sustainable. Any grants or awards will help us scale the organization faster; but as it stands at the moment, this is a passion project. I have not engaged in fund raising efforts (other than this) because I can work for free and my relationships are strong enough in the media industry that I can acquire ad space for free during the first six months of operations.
