To realize sports events and amateur women’s soccer championships; maintenance of the active LHFFA web portal about women’s soccer.

Everything is done in a voluntary basis; we do not count on public financial support. LHFFA promotes championships for Garotas Show de Bola (girls) and Garotos Show de Bola (boys). The subscription fee is 1 Kg of non-perishable food products or, during winter, clothes. Those are donated to the families of the LHFAA girls. The referee team is composed by girls in the boys’ matches and vice-versa. People with no means to pay the subscription fee pay for that with referee services. Whoever gets a yellow card acts as an assistant referee and red cards are “punishable” with the responsibility of acting as referee. Whoever does not wish to act as referee can pay with 5Kg of food.

Both masculine and feminine branches – in my project I need both walking together. Boys and girls starting from 5 years old to veterans.

Benefits to Clients
Prizes are trophies and medals. Best players may be taken for tests in big soccer teams, if they help with the feminine events. For girls, besides trophies and medals, we offer covers in online magazines and videos so soccer clubs can see them for a possible contract.
Como você implementa(rá) sua inovação e como responde(rá) às dificuldades que está enfrentando?
A Soccer League is made of soccer clubs, and LHFFA faces difficulties to obtain financial support from the government because soccer laws in Brazil neither allow nor encourage it. Since Brazilian clubs do not have women’s soccer teams, LHFFA cannot count on financial resources to realize the sports events. Our teenagers are our tomorrow, we urgently need to hear them before they are taken by drug dealers. Soccer and sports in general are crucial to spend their energy and build a better world.

Media is everybody’s dream, and today the internet makes that dream available to all classes. LHFFA voluntarily sought to make digital technology to reach the reality of the most humble class. I took three boys in 2002, one of them hearing-impaired, and offered them the opportunity to appear in newspapers, TV, radio, on Saturdays and Sundays. They were shy in the beginning, but after they saw themselves on TV and main newspapers helping women’s soccer, everything has changed.

I am not affiliated to any political party. Every time I seek politicians they run away from me, only to return during elections season full false projects.

I am a widow with a pension and also work as a hairdresser, and I use part of my salary to help the women youth. I believe I will be able to promote all the sport events and respect all chronograms. I have time, as all my sons are grown-ups. We will start the events as soon as the financial support arrives.
Origin of the Initiative
Almost fifteen years ago, Novo Hamburgo held its first women’s soccer championship. Laura Machado was always involved with the matches. However, the championship was held only during that year – the challenges started to appear and the project stopped.
In the meantime, Laura has married, and stopped playing soccer. But sport in her life was not done yet. Around 1990, Laura started a total change in her story. She went to São Paulo where she worked as an observer for big clubs, travelling around Brazil. There, Laura got the experience to put her ideas in practice, but she knew it would be difficult to reintroduce women’s soccer in Novo Hamburgo. Laura started her project – she demanded the creation of a women’s soccer department within the local soccer association and presented her ideas – without success – to the city government.

LHFFA is entirely made of volunteers. To continue with the LHFFA web page and promote those sport events we need financial support for transportation and sports material, shirts, coats, sweaters, socks, shorts, football boots, etc.

Qual é o principal obstáculo financeiro e como pretende superá-lo?
Electricity, water, gas and internet bills that are paid by myself.
What are the major challenges with regards to partnerships?
I am a champion on overcoming prejudices without harming anyone, since I prefer to be the one most hurt. Women’s soccer in our country is still crawling, and if we can get an universal supporter with a strong brand, yes we can CHANGE EVERYTHING!

Facing many difficulties with the department, Laura founded LHFFA with help from her three sons and current consort. Soon a partnership was forged with local clubs to promote women’s soccer competitions without costs to participants. They demanded only respect and discipline from all who participated in the competitions and would soon participate in the women’s soccer championship – after so many years of waiting.
