NewsRap will provide access to the TV broadcast sector for a diverse youth population.
NewsRap will encourage Intercultural Collaboration via peer-to-peer and professional mentorship in a secure web environment.
NewsRap will inspire youth to express their opinions about issues and current events, question credibility of news sources, and seek to understand the impact on themselves and their families.
NewsRap encourages youth to pursue hands-on creativity through writing and performance of poetry, rap, and music via video production and editing. A collaborative on-line video-editing space will allow young people to co-produce nascent amateur NewsRaps wherever they may be.
NewsRap will bring youth together with TV broadcasters within the context of local TV News shows, and enhance self-esteem of young people by their visibility as producers and performers on real TV.

Who will help you develop your idea? Why are you the one to make this happen?
Ely Bonder is the founder of eMage.ca, one of the first web concepts to promote youth empowerment through New Media and Broadcasting. Ely is a full-time news video editor for Canada's private sector CTV television network.
Ely pioneered youth access to broadcasters by piloting a show conceived by youth for professional TV in the early eighties, and also applied for a satellite channel for and by youth, which morphed to become one of the most successful specialty channels in Canada : YTV .
Co-piloting the NewsRap demo was accomplished with Montreal non-profit producer Les Productions Oracle, which is devoted to video production for and by youth-at-risk.
CTV News Montreal has agreed to collaborate in promoting the successful launch of NewsRap, locally, and across Canada.
How much will it cost to launch your idea? (This can be an estimate)
The cost of launching NewsRap will be approximately $75,000 . eMage.ca is participating in launching costs of approximately $30,000 . Sponsorship is being sought for remaining balance of project cost.
