I think it is great that you are utilizing the skills of professionals in the quest to reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria; however, I'm not quite sure I understand your idea. It sounds like you work with those who have already had professional training in the health sector, is this correct? Do the professionals travel to rural areas to provide a service or do the professionals train others in life saving techniques for childbirth? Is there a specific location for the training? Any more details of the project would be beneficial to know.

I hope to have a better understanding of your idea soon!

Thanks Sarah King for taking your time to read through the proposal submitted and needs clarification. "GAIYA" is a local language meaning Team efforts to put things in order.
As you said, we work with trained health personels, like MId wifes,(retired and active ib service) how they can on their own use this skills for the reduction of the maternal death rate without expecting any monetary reward from any angle.

They dont need to travel, most of them reside in this area or community, and to the student mid-wifes, is part of their academics requirements to undertake community experience before graduating. In the process of the school sending them to different rural areas they will be trained on Volunteering as a tools for development and they inturn can open the community members eyes as to see what their little effort can bring and safe lifes.

We conduct the training in different locations, as for health schools, we have good relationship with the school authority, they infomed us when is time and same for other locations that we trained.

If it may interest you that as at this morning, out of 900 target set for the fiscal year April09-march 010. We have achieved 846 (94%) trained to go into their various community to have positive impact.

Thank you for your entry and your responses so far. I was wondering if you are teaching the people the skills they need to know in the communities or just taking your volunteers and going in and helping the woman like an extended hospital? What are the supplies if any that you would need? Thank you

Bre Booren,
Am very grateful for taking time to go through this submission,we equip the people with volunteering skills and make them to know who should be their target and how they can use Needs assessment and community mobilization to get to the root cause of some of these issues and how they can intervene or refer to the appropriate place. We organised 3days training with training materials (Manual and feeding) given to all the participants and issue certificate of participation to all the committed ones that did not absent for any of the 3days sessions. They choose where to volunteer their skills(mostly in their communities-rural) and we place some if we have urgent needs in any area.

SUPPLY NEEDS...
The needed supplies will be training materials that will help us to deliver more trainings.

Thanks.
